couple of weeks after the C200 new FW is finished..
That was in Beta test but suspended until after the release of the 300 series.. they needed the developers for bug fixing.. With any luck and a stable 300 firmware I think development will resume in January.. but that is just me guessing... PCH-A100/A210/C200/A400 500GB EXT3 HDD<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10 13 NTFS USB drives on 3 hubs attached to the A300, 3 Seagate blackarmour NAS 3TB The inability to setup and configure the NMT should not be disguised as a defect of the box |

RE: [A-200/A-210] Firmware 02-04-110519-21-POP-411 (02-04-101104-21-POP-411) (27.05.2011)
Question regarding the newest firmware for the A210: security isn't seriously taken into account?...
ftp service: user ftpuser/1234 is still hardcoded in the login procedures in some places: - user ftpuser isn't listed in the linux configured users - but ftpuser this is still a valid login name via ftp://, go figure... - when logging in, there is no directory view/handle limitation for the user (nmt being the admin/root user), a logged-in person will see your entire HDD (wherever you configure your nmt apps to point to...). On the other hand, logging in via ftp:// with ftpuser does not work (neither with the new-set nmt password as the documentation states, nor with the default 1234) So basically an ftp user(=nmt, partially with 1234 partially with your own set up password) will see everything on the location, will be able to perform any activities on the location.... Hardcoded reminescences as well: - valid web access login via http://ip-address:80xxx via user 'nmt' but the default '1234' is valid.... NOT the changed password for user 'nmt', This is not consistent and dangerous.... Basically, this leaves some backdoors from the outside as soon as ftp port or the webaccess links are known and reachable. Is there hope that this will be ASAP corrected?.... if I knew security is taken on the (very) light side, I would have thought twice to buy the device.... linux depends (too) on the implementation on how secure it will be... Suggestion: - create dedicated ftp user with limited rights on one specific directory and configurable password, in luxury version possibility to edit the rights on that specific directory - remove the remnants from previous code (eg the ftpuser/1234 in the http://ipaddress:80xxx ) |

It all depends also on your current audio hardware. I haven't upgraded (actually downgraded back to ) since the May update. Every update since, screws with my audio on perfectly ripped movies. I have an older 7.1 surround system and when the newer updates were released, something changed in how the music (movie audio tracks) were being played. I couldn't hear the voices as well (yes I changed all sorts of settings trying to compensate on hardware and on the popcorn) or certain movies would suddenly become louder or softer depending on certain scenes , etc. For me, I stopped upgrading. I'll probably end up purchasing a newer 300 series soon anyways..

The A-300 has the same problem. I'm having the problem while watching movies using the TV internal speakers. I haven't tried it with the Amp yet. I was watching a movie last night on the 300 and it was so bad I turned it off. I've tried changing all the audio settings on my TV but nothing did any good. |

I've done nothing but watch movies over the last few days on the A300 using a direct HDMI >> TV connection and it does not have the same issue as the 200 with regards low speaking audio. Anyway lets keep that for the 300 firmware thread or section. When was this confirmed??? I thought it was always meant to be released in december but was postponed for january because of A-300/C-300 release. We cant be left with this last firmware and its buggy performance. |

I'm afraid that 7 months without new firmware for A-200 is not "stirring the pot" but stop supporting of its.

This switch dev on the next firmware to a new firmware with the new system. complain to everyone who voted for this to happen, syabas is more than supporting you. |

I didn't vote for it and after having the A-300 I hope they don't port it over. I really prefer the original style, especially when in file view. |

Not expensive if you can get a working unit. Replacement PCB would be expensive, 50 USD + shipping to NL + Customs money is to much for this thing, got a other brand player (Just streamer now) and works like a charm. for The Popcorn i threw +200 Euro's down the drain...... Popcorn wont see me as a customer again, since they really proved that customers can go to hell after they bought their product. The new network streamer i got works like a charm, all movies are on a NAS now in the network and havent had 1 single crash for over a few months now... the PCH is laying around in an old box in the closet, maybe some day i still can use it as a spare player, but i have my doubts on that they will ever continue support on the 200 series and fix the bugs that me and others are having. |
