I´ll try to sort that out next week when I´m back home. I can though confess that the time for sorting out technical difficulties has become a bit smaller than before the toddler arrived last summer and so has my wife's patience

It does everything you need to play music and movies. and all that for little money Have a look at the forum and see the problems people besides yourself have with it and then check out the Bug reports, those are the things people have problems with. For me the biggest problem is not being able to browse files over SMB because the current firmware has an old version of SMB that can't connect to modern system software such as OS X. With MyiHome software has been seemingly been abandoned long ago that leaves a Twonky (which, in my experience, can't even display the file name correctly in the info) and NFS Server which is okay. Both are an additional cost and with much less functions. |

RE:
People complain about software and problems that are not made by Syabas. It is true that MyiHome is old and need to be upgraded. I never use it. I control my PHC with remote. Transfer files over network. Don’t have problems with 99% files. Maybe when I get file with some unusual extension or when it is wrongly encoded. But that is not PHC mistake. Sometimes people are complaining because they don’t know how to use PHC functions like with NMJ

Couple things that are wrong here, OSX abandoned samba for there own in house version called SMBX in typical apple fashion, This also effected windows, as well as other OS's Even upgrading the samba client on the pch does not guarantee it will work with SMBx as apple gives no information on it, and people continue to have problems with it, And NFS is not additional cost nor is it less functions, NFS is actually better then SMB even more so when on two native NFS platforms like OSX and pch being linux. Your first complaint should be with apple with the introduction of SMBx and not a company that still follows the normal working samba platform that is used in everything else. If you dont like twonky there are hundreds of others out there. You have llink which was made by a pch user that is on this forum i think its even in the apple store now, |

That's my point, the world moves on but not the PCH A210 - if PCH was updated to the standards that modern OSs use it would work. I don't have problems with networking between my Mac and Windows 7 PC, so it probably is possible to get it working. llink is in the app store and it hasn't been updated since October. If all these other apps can connect to modern OSs, why can't the PCH which is supposed to? This comes from the A210 Features page: "With our own team of software engineers and developers, there is no lack of firmware update to protect your investment and make it last longer". I'm not seeing that ... but that's only my opinion. |

any chance to expect new firmware after 14 months ?
Is this is last firmware or we shall expect some update in future ?
I can't delete files from PCH hard drive. So far have detected that problem is non ascii char in file name which is by PCH saved to hard drive, playing OK but can't be deleted. |

And if word is right the newest OSx lacks domain auth for SMBx it will make even more people crazy. I will agree pch needs updated samba client but still will not make it work 100% with apple it was more of a warning, And again why not USE NFS that is the native client to both osx and pch? Why does llink need to be updated It works and plays everything. If there was a problem with it im sure it would get an update but it works fine. And its been beaten to death pch has downsized they cant push firmware out as fast as they did for the 100/110 start of the 200 series. They are trying to combine firmware branches to push updates faster but it takes time. |

Not sure what the issue is on OSX and SMB. It workes fine here... Though, do wish a new firmware is coming soon. Having problems with subtitles in .sub format. When I use them and I try to forward or rewind the popcorn crashes! I have to reboot the system then. Don't have that with .srt files.
