I posted this instructions because user apps all the time produce weired issues which we can't control, normal users don't install userapps and they also don't come to that forum and see this instructions. Currently we have 99,999% firmware update success, where most users didn't do anything beside installing the online update, the 0,001% percentage which failed, are users with userapps installed, according to todays results it is related to the LTU package, because most of the users were it failed, in total 20 users, were successful after following the instruction.
So I made this instruction for users facing such issues and also for users who wanna be on the safe side.

Sorry but it seems to need such instruction for such very special user errors

No-one should be expected to do this on a consumer device for something as simple as a firmware update.

And this is for users that didn't have CSI installed, so for regular users that bought a product off the shelf and expected to use it, not people that have been hacking around with the unit.

Jup "sad" but true. I never use apps, and never had problems updating....

But on the other hand, I understand the need for work-arounds for ftp for example.

The masses get a pch and maybe install NMT. Those people upgraded the first time perfectly as they are all Syabas made components. Now the less than 1% who did not upgrade correctly are not the masses.

Your adding non-syabas software to your player. Software that is not always friendly to turning itself off or modifies the syabas software already on your player.. Syabas can only plan for their software, they are not in control of what the rest of us are hacking into their players and shouldn't waste their time doing so..

All those instructions do it make sure nothing extra is running on the player and reverting the firmware that might be hacked up by a tool they don't know is doing that.

If you want worry free firmware updates.. Install NMT and don't add anything else. Anything else and your no longer the masses and exactly the person your complaining this player requires you to be..

I uninstalled all CSI-apps, shutdown all NMT-apps, cleared the cache and restarted. Then went ahead and updated the FW online and the apps via USB.
So far everything seems to work as planned!

i am not against user developed stuff, i really welcome any of this, we have awesome guys in here, also Padavans work with the LTU package is really great and i respect anything he posts, reports, creates or do, also from other users or developers on this forum, but if users install something which is not made by us, then i expect that they also use there brain a little bit and think about it what they are doing and don't come here and first post crap about firmware issues which isn't the case now, anyway we spend a lot off time to also help users in such special cases, we worked with users who had the issue and willem had the idea about the LTU package which was finally the solution for this special issue, so do you think it would be better if i don't post any instructions to also help this special users?

How do you think other companies will handle such things, they will say to you that they won't help you at all and if it goes strange also say to you, that you break the device because you manipulated it and will refuse any later warranty requests from you.

For sure we could make everything easier if it is needed, we can do it like companies as Apple do, to give users no way todo anything else beside what we release official and what we support, so totally lock down the device, we could also limit the containers, codecs,........ so that you can only play mkv and avi as example, make the product totally stable, but would you then be happy or would you then even buy our device?

The Problem with finding the LTU being the cause of the issue, was that it required a LTU user to spot it.
There is no reasonable way anyone can expect Syabas to spot these issues.... as long as we all function as a community that want's to make their NMT a better machine in a positive and cooperative way, we all do fine.
Laying blame is a negative and non-constructive activity that serves nobody.
Padavans solution to improve the usability of the C200 is brilliant and this unforeseen issue is in no way his fault or anyone's.

The update succeeded nicely on my C200.

well since previous update my c200 does not always boot up (hangs on the popcorn hour screen). and this one did update did not change that behavious

blu ray movie seems working fine with this update

check the sata cables connected to your drives, sometimes there could be issues with the cables or connectors after some time, just swap the cable so the one connected to the harddrive connect to the bd drive and the one connected to the bd drive connect to your harddrive, do the same on the motherboard connectors, if you still have the same issues then replace one of the sata cables.

Other thing could be that your drive has errors already, then i would check the harddrive with a linux live cd, i use for such things the gparted live cd or the parted magic live cd

I also agree, the develpers can't program around every mod or app that people try to add. I quit adding any mods to mine since I shelved my A100 about 1 1/2 years ago. I'm very happy with what has been developed and installed with the FW updates.

I just wish they could add a sleep timer or Auto Shutoff so when I fall a sleep at night it's not still running in the morning. Hint Hint.

Mine updated without problems.
Only app that I installed is the "LundmanShell" to acces the NMT trough my Iphone
(Realy handy when playing music and I sit outdoors in the garden and wanna change tracks... )

Your message scremaing is: Mediatanks are not for the masses.

Sure it can be made easier there is 2 ways to do that since 99,9% of all this is about DRM.
1.Lift out the bluray (and possibly dts,ac3 and a couple more licenses) capabilites from the pch (meaning no more bluray(iso,folders,plastic)playing).
2.Convince lawmakers,lawers,and the big morons on top off the big media companys that couldn´t care less about anyone that is beyond them to drop DRM.

Other then that there is not much syabas can do without losing a number of licenses or have to pay much more $$$$$$$.

What they could have done is at least update any nmtapps that have big trouble now and have had for 6 months.
Sure maybe not too the latest verision out there but atleast one that don´t crash and locks up the pch in less then 1 min (ftp,torrent).

And if it´s not to much to ask (which it was) fix the network speed that have been next to useless for 6 months (can play a regular 700mb avi file anything over that stutter).
The FW from last may one year ago works wonderful in both FTP and network speed.

I think i have a memory somewhere thats almost gone that "network" is part of the name "networkmediatank".

Sure the network works if i only watch low quality files so the network speed i can almost tolerate.
But a crashing FTP client for over 6 months that is NOT acceptable at all.
And that was also the culprint for the FW update troubles so if they had fixed that first it would have gone much smother.

So a small warning for anyone out there that have had network speed issues for the last couple off FW but works ok on erlir FW.

If you update you are stuck with crappy network speed until it is fixed so do as i'm going to do WAIT TO UPDATE UNTIL IT'S FIXED

there is a thread in the request section and currently there are not many requesting it

It was started at 26.12.2009 and just 39 replies to it, which is nothing, best chance to see a feature request gets developed or maybe into our internal request list, is by starting thread with a poll in the feature request section, if there are many votes then there is a good chance to get such feature or get on to our list, sometimes if it is a easy and fast thing it can come also if not many requests are there.
A good example how successful a feature request could be is the

which is currently under development.

You are wrong and an *****. please get rid of your player and buy something else and disappear.

Many, myself included have explained how syabas is making bug fixes in multiple firmwares to address as many problems as they can.

Firmware 1 was suppose to be this online only firmware. Firmware2 was going to be the big working with sigma sdk upgrade and massive bug fix version in case you needed to uninstall it for new problems. Delays in firmware1 and syabas decided to start fixing the safe changes in a third firmware which was released in June 2011.

your just being a gnat and need to shut up and start posting constructive bug lists that syabas can look at or go away.

It is maybe a newbie question, but what are the benefits of this new firmware regarding the changelog where only a few things are fixed?

Maybe i missed something, but is it a necessary step to get some new features in the future ?
