Very confusing!!

It has to be done online. The licence keys are generated on a per-unit basis so they need to know the MAC address of your unit to generate your specific key.

I imagine they could have released an offline updater but it would a) require that you run software to do it and b) could be cracked and compromise Syabas' licences, which wouldn't be a good position for the company to put itself in.
