First DVD recorder for PC 1000 bucks and Home DVD Recorders, currently 5 on the shelve.
First Plasma 50" Dell 4500 bucks
currently have 8 lcd TVs
8 different media players including the PCH A-100, C-200, A-200, A-300
Had a Zenith TV with Space Phone, could answer the phone on the TV.
And the list goes on, I have a electronics grave yard in the basement.

LOL and that right there says it all...."our Electronic Grave Yard" in our house has become a playground for my pre teens who fool around with all this stuff...ingenuity does have its way of working into the mix...but as consequence of being an early adopter lots of stuff makes its way into our graveyard...no offense intended to the previous poster money does seem to be one of the prevailing causalities of being an early adopter...at least that is what my wife keeps reminding me...
