A110 & optical drive connection through SATA - possible?

Hello there,
I am wondering if is it possible to use internat SATA connector to connect optical drive to my A110 to play DVD'S and other supported files. Yes I know, one can always dump content of DVD to HDD but I have many of them so it's a lot of time and space.

Would be such drive recognizable? Has anyone tried it?

I think a USB drive would work.

I just share the optical drive from my PC and the PCH can access it and play DVDs that way.

OK but optical drive with what interface? SATA or USB?
Could you check whether it can play data disc containing .avi files ?

SATA, it is internal BD-ROM drive on my PC. Share it like any other drive.

I would assume it could play a data disc with files, like any other network share. I use it for Blu-Ray and DVD and am pretty sure I've browsed the Blu-Ray folder structure and played a specific m2ts file before. I can double check it, but don't see why it wouldn't work.

Confirmed this works with no issues. Played an avi file burned to disc, via sharing the drive so PCH can see it and browse like any other drive/share.

My EG-34A does not see a SATA DVD drive connected to the SATA port, but happily works with it when it is connected to the USB port (via SATA->USB adapter).
