mkv doesn't recognise subtitles
hi
i have a couple of mkv files on my nas... and the subtitle srt files have the exact same name as the mkv however, pch-a210 doesn't seem to pick/recognise the subtitle files.. this happens only for 3-4 movies... any tips on what i could look for or investigate to fix this? |

RE: mkv doesn't recognise subtitles
Could be that they are not saved as ANSI. Try opening them and resaving them as ANSI rather than UTF.
Could be that they are high resolution subtitles unsupported in srt format. Use mediainfo to look at them and also to see if there are other things like menus/chapters in there which could be a problem. Assuming you are using SMB/NFS and not some awful NAS multimnediai server app. A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |

What I have found though, is that sometimes, the nmt does not pick up the external file. Not sure what combination of characters or sequence, but it appears that there is a bug of some kind that prevents loading. I rename the movie, and srt, then it loads. PCH A-100, A-110 & A-200 |

RE: mkv doesn't recognise subtitles
hi..i checked the encoding and its ansi...
i tried renaming and that worked... however, the funny thing is that in the nmj, it doesn't list the subtitle as "external" - basically nmj doesn't recognise the subtitle file since i renamed the file, i changed the entries too in the nmj db using nmj toolbox... p.s. - should we move this thread to nmj threads? |

RE: mkv doesn't recognise subtitles
If its renamed then you'll have to update the database.
Is this only an NMJ issue? If so then in future it should be in NMJ from the start. Always test your files from outside of any Jukebox be it YAMJ or NMJ.
