A-110 constant disk accesing

Hi guys...i need a little help....the other day i powered down my A-110 via the remote...after a bout 5 seconds i heard the hard drive power back up and start working...now my A-110 is not connected to anything exept the tv so is this normall?...i have had my NMT for about 2 years and have not noticed it before. also i have noticed in the last few weeks that mkv movies that previously work fine now seem to stutter on play back...any ideas?
