I would like a firmware release for issue that will arise like this. Not only do I have several episodes, but some films too.
The audio standard may specify specific bitrates, but error checking still needs to be done outside of this. An error message or some other warning to say that the audio is screwed would be better than the issues we are getting.

Either way you look at it, it's a bug in the current firmware.

I can see you dont understand hardware players very much. Its impossible to account for every encoding problem out there with every option and there is no way to throw errors if a decoder cant handle what its given. It just wont play. its impossible for it to give a reason. These are RISC devices. they have a very specific set of instructions and thats it.

I am getting the same with Haven S02E07, No sound from my A-110. However it does play on my C-200 with sound and plays fine on a USB flash drive plugged directly into my Sony TV.

Same issue with the two latest episodes of How I Met Your Mother and the "rip" of some french TV shows !

I never had the problem before and now most of each newly downloaded video has the problem !!

How is it possible ?

Same problem here with Torchwood and How I met your mother. No audio. Also, if I try to skip to 50% in these files it looks like the video is fast forwarding and freezes after a few seconds. Never had any issues until recently. Looks indeed like they are using a new way of encoding that the A-110 can't handle.

Add the most recent Episodes of Glee and Raising Hope to the list.

Let's hope this is fixable with some kind of firmware update, otherwise we should maybe let said team of Encoders know that one of the most popular hardware platforms has issues with their new ways of encoding audio.

Same problem here, only with XVID releases. I can confirm all problems stated above, even the video skipping issue. I have a A-110, if you need more information please PM me.

remuxing to vbr instead of cdbr fixed the issue with one file for me.

but indead there are a lot of releases that have started experiencing this issue

It only happens on releases with Writing library : XviD 63

I have the same problems with some files.
What works for me in Virtualdub:
Video: direct stream copy
Audio: Full Processing Mode / Compression: Lame MP3 / 48000 Hz, 160 kpbs CBR Stereo (Not sure >128 is nescessary)

Just wanted to raise my hand, and join the club. I have been experiencing this for awhile now (only on certain files, exactly as OP describes). Gonna try this Virtualdub fix and will report back.
