Exclamation [FW/Update Bug] Region Code was Changed due to FW Update
I just stumbled across this when I tried playing a BluRay rip (AVCHD folder); I got the error (paraphrased) Region A can't play on Region B player... WTH? My C-200 was always set to Region A because I checked it when I first got it over a year ago.

All my previous Region A rips (that I didn't bother removing encryption schemes) worked just fine until now; that is, before the June 2011 FW update.

I went into the Region code setup screen (SLOW, 1, 6, 6, 3) and sure enough, the region code was now set to B.

So I burned one of my 5 chances to change it.

I realize there is a utility to "reset" the region code counter, but no one should have to resort to that due to a FW update bug.

How many region changes do you have left?

I ask because if it's 4 you won't have 'lost' any changes and it looks like the update reset back to the 5 changes prior to your recent region setting.

4 changes left, but it was already set to A when I opened the box brand new so I always had the 5 chances.

It's not the end of the world and a utility appears to be available to reset it, but again, the "average joe" customer shouldn't have to be going through all this.

If it is something that has to be reset after each 18 month key update then fine. We could have done with being warned about it though.

Have to keep it in mind for those having problems with BD playback after the update.
