Xbmc in popcorn hour

Could it be possible someday to install xbmc in popcorn hour models?
I owe an a110 and a c200 and I think they're on the top in term of video quality, but they lack so much in term of usability and personalization... The xbmc plugins, instead, can make almost everybody all around the world to be able to access the streaming video content they need from Internet.
Please, try to give us something similar for our media player!

Seriously, I don't think we will see XBMC on the currently released models. I do think that that new un-announced NMT models will be coming out that might actually run xbmc.

Have you considered trying to use YAMJ with a add-on skin?

You're right, a jailbroken ATV2 is surely a better ( and cheaper... ) media-player for what I need.
But I love my PCH and I would be very sad if I should be forced to sell it...

I've had a play with xbmc, and while it may look nice, I think YAMJ and eversion are much more configurable and user-friendly.

Of course, it's well known that I'm an idiot so it may be I didn't get the best out of xbmc

The available popcorn hour will not run XBMC. The port of XBMC is only for the new Sigma Design chips.

Well, what I think pch need, is more streaming services like you can find on xbmc plugins ( like hulu ).
Pch is perfect if you have hundreds of multimedia files in an hard disk, in a local network and/or if you want to download them from torrents or nzb, but IMHO this is the past: nowadays streaming is more important than downloading...

But from what xbmc says, only smp8910 is compatibile, i will certainly say that this video is fake.

yeah that is fail. need 1080p with dts sound. and anything I buy to upgrade from pch a-110 needs to be able to play full 3d bd iso.

and seems like there still is no nmt that can do that so you have to go htpc route until nmt's with Sigma smp8910 comes out

Get a Raspberry Pi (R-Pi) - it handles 1080p30 High Profile, and XBMC is being actively developed to run on it.

The Model B R-Pi costs an outrageous $35... throw in a plastic case and USB IR receiver/remote, maybe $50-$55, tops (though since the GPU has support for HDMI CEC, a separate IR remote control may not be entirely necessary once the HDMI CEC codes are exposed to libcec and then to XBMC).

It's so small it can be stuck on the back of a TV, and depending on your TV it may even be able to draw power from a TV USB port (the R-Pi uses a 5V microUSB charger). All the R-Pi then needs is an Ethernet cable for media, plus optional USB IR receiver (and this still leaves one UBS2.0 port spare for locally attached media). Then an HDMI cable to your TV, and it's job done - a complete media center for next to no money.

Game changer? Possibly.
