Should the A110 be able to play ts files with DTS HD MA audio?
I tend to rip my BD titles into .ts (or .m2ts) format and retain the lossless audio, either DTS HD MA or Dolby TrueHD.
I have been noticing when playing the tracks with DTS HD MA audio, the A110 will display DTS MA as the audio format, but my AVR only displays and presumably plays regular DTS audio. If the ts or m2ts file contains a TrueHD track the AVR displays Dolby TrueHD. This is a HK AVR254. Is this a problem with the A110 or possibly with the AVR? Mediainfo shows the following for the titles Audio ID : 4352 (0x1100) Menu ID : 1 (0x1) Format : DTS Format/Info : Digital Theater Systems Format profile : MA / Core Muxing mode : Stream extension Codec ID : 134 Duration : 2h 10mn Bit rate mode : Variable Bit rate : 2 716 Kbps / 1 510 Kbps Channel(s) : 6 channels Channel positions : Front: L C R, Side: L R, LFE Sampling rate : 48.0 KHz Bit depth : 24 bits Compression mode : Lossless / Lossy Thanks |

I bet it's your AVR. I have the same model and I have the same issue
try to switch to another source then back to PCH: chances are the AVR will lock the lossless audio input ciao -- Nando Panasonic TH-42PX80 - Harman Kardon AVR-255 - Sony PS3 - Oppo DV-983H - QNAP TS409-Pro (4TB RAID 5, SqueezeServer + DownloadStation) - PopcornHour A110/C200 - Logitech Duet - 5.1: Chario Syntar 200, Chario Syntar Dialogue, Chario Syntar 100, Jamo SW 708 - Logitech Harmony One |

RE: Should the A110 be able to play ts files with DTS HD MA audio?
I tried switching to another source and back but no joy. And when I played a track with DD+ audio, it first had no audio, then when I switched from left to right and both mono, I got audio but then when I switched to stereo no audio.
DTS HD MA is fine with a BD player. I also have a A200 so will try that to see if it's a A110 problem and also another AVR with DTD HD MA capability and so will also try that one. [EDIT] I replaced the A110 with a A200 pointing to the same file server and into the same AVR. No problem playing DTS HD MA or DD+ for that matter which the A110 could not. Looks like a firmware problem to me. |

RE: Should the A110 be able to play ts files with DTS HD MA audio?
Syabas got back to me with the answer. In the audio settings I had for DTS DTS Raw. In fact there is another option in that dropdown list that does not exist for Dolby. It is DTSHD Raw. Once I set that the DTSHD MA signal passes through to the AVR fine.
Interesting for Dolby TrueHD you don't need to set a special setting - Dolby Raw is fine. |

I ripped my copy of Avengers with DTS-HD audio. I have DTS-HD RAW selected in my options yet it still only plays DTS (core) audio. My AVR handles HD audio streams fine via BD. What am I doing wrong?

What contained are you using?I seem to recall that on the A110 at least the container had to be .ts or .m2ts to support HD audio. Mkv would not work.
Plus IMHO I can't see any benefit ripping to mkv for content you are creating for your own archive. Seems to place unnecessary overhead on demuxing and playing. |

Ok it was to an mkv, I'll try a .ts file. I usually down rez my files to 720 to preserve space.

mkv is only a container and presumbly you have h.264 video and DTS HD MA audio. Just demux the two streams with the MKV Toolkit and mux back with tsmuxer
