Hi. I've done a bit of reading through the WiKi and on these forums and am a little confused. I understand that there is a 2.1TB limit if you fit a 3TB drive into the PCH but does this still apply if you are using it as an external drive? Sorry - can't find the answer so am better off asking
![]() Also, WD have a new version of their 3TB Caviar Green - Old - WD30EZRSDTL New - WD30EZRX http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=120 I take it that there's no reason not to buy the new (even though it's not listed in the comparability list yet? ![]() Thanks!! When you say external, as in a USB case? If so, it probably will not work.
You can use it as an internal data drive, if you partition+format it on a Vista or Win7 as NTFS. You will not get the full 3TB if you use it as the NMT apps drive and have the PCH partition+format. Thanks for the reply Nuke. Yes, I mean in an external enclosure. I currently have two 2TB drives in an IcyBox enclosure but these are now full so I'm looking to upgrade them to get extra space. You sure I won't get the 3TB space this way?

Sure? No I'm not but the last couple of guys that tried could only see 750GBs. It's your $.

I wonder if partitioning the drive into two 1.5TB drives would work ![]() (09-07-2011 05:20 AM)darkmantis Wrote: what about buying an nas device that can read 3tb drives with atleast 2 slots? 6 tbs total and just network it to your popcorn box? It's a simple matter of cost Darkmantis. I guess the ideal solution for me would be to get a 4 drive nas device but they seem to be very expensive. A 2 bay would do nicely but the cheapest I can find is £57 ![]() http://www.amazon.co.uk/Netgear-Network-...49&sr=1-14 PCH-A200 2TB int. & USB Enclosure with 4x 2TB drives |
