Oversight - running for over 12 hours!
So, I have the latest alpha release, installed it for the first time, yesterday night, on my PCH-A200. I have about 230 hd movies in my harddisk. I've started the scan yesterday night, about 12 hours ago. Oversight was successful in obtaining all the information from imdb for all my movies - it even downloaded fanart and posters - I am ecstatic. Now, I just did tail -f last.log under /share/Apps/oversight/logs and its still running!! Here is what it looks like:
Quote:[INFO] 08:12:29 IMAGES-17008.0.192149 : Processing : [portrait] [http://ia.media I don't get it - I thought it was supposed to be done in a few hours for the first time? My internet connection is a 4Mbps line. I believe this background processing of oversight is killing PCH speed - its stuttering playback on fullbds and ocassionally reboots (could be due to the over heating!) Do I kill the scan threads? Is this normal behavior? Any suggestions, people? |

RE: Oversight - running for over 12 hours!
it says that it will scan 100+ an hour. But I had the same 'problem'. Just take more time for it. Let the first full scan run at night so it won't interfere with the playback.
Incremental scans won't give you this problem. Cheers, Danny Friends just keep you away from TV. PCH A-110 NetGear Readynas RND4000 (8TB) |

RE: Oversight - running for over 12 hours!
Well, anyway
I add 1 or 2 new movies to the watch folder, and my incremental scan lasts for more than an hour, going through several dozen "items". What's happening? |

RE: Oversight - running for over 12 hours!
Hi
Send a scan log using the steps here - http://code.google.com/p/oversight/wiki/...LogReports If you have a lot of folders, then Oversight checks every one of them. (checking datestamps cause too many failure conditions) There is an option for the incremental scan to only fire if the date stamp of a specific flag file has changed. (called a trigger file). Set oversight to monitor the datestamp of the trigger file and then make sure that file is updated whenever you add new content remotely. This will reduce load on NMT if there is no new content, when using the watch feature. Alternatively just run scans manually and disable the watch feature. When there is new content: there are a couple of things that slow down scanning - some of these are addressed in the next release I'm working on. Scanning localized plots where the plot was not found at IMDB or TMDB, esp if the website is slow. Looking for localised posters - this is improved with the new v3 api for TheMovie Db. Resizing images - - again I've stuck to downloading standard sizes that are on TMDB, so less work for NMT. - Also fanart generation for SD (NTSC, PAL) are disabled by default. I'm testing with English titles at the moment and I'm getting about 5-8 seconds a movie now. I'll be testing non-English soon .. Oversight: Jukebox | FeedTime: Automatic nzbs |
