Fix: Internal Hard Drive Not Detected
Like many others, my installed internal hard drive was functioning perfectly last night, and today when I booted up my PCH A-100 it was nowhere to be found.
Long story short: for me it was the cable which powers the hard drive and connects to the circuit board. I tried unplugging the hard drive and replugging it, etc. with no luck. Finally, I unplugged that short plug which connects to the power input on the hard drive to the circuit board and noticed one of the connectors (yellow) had slipped back into the plastic plug and was no longer flush with the other connecting wires. I figured this must be what was causing the lack of power. I pushed the yellow wire back into place so it was flush with the others and then made sure when I was plugging it into the back on the hard drive I paid special attention to unsure the yellow wire plugged in with the rest. I installed the drive, plugged it in, and the PCH is recognizing the hard drive. A couple of notes: this is likely a short term solution as I cannot recall touching the unit, let alone doing something that would make a wire dislodge internally?! So, if anyone knows where to find a replacement, I'd be much obliged if you posted it. I hope this works for others as I totally get the wtf?!, depressed, frustrated feeling this caused in me! Cheers, Vaux |
