When can I expect to see Netflix on my C-200?
Well, as it stands now I can play Netflix on practically every device in my house except the popcorn hour. ipad, iphone, Xbox, LG TV, Mitsubishi TV, Samsung Bluray Player, PS3, PC, etc...
Because of the high cost of electricity running XBOX's and PS3's just to watch streaming movies/TV it would be awfully nice to have a low power consumption option using the popcorn hour. I have multiple rooms in the house all with popcorn hours and yet I still have to use gaming units as the source and not the media streamer. Any ideas when this will be addressed? RE: When can I expect to see Netflix on my C-200?
In a nutshell it won't.
It's been requested before and the reason it won't be available for the PCH is that Netflix's terms for acceptable use requires locking down the firmware to a point it will interfere with it's current ability to play back media files it can do now. You can do a search in the forums if you like. A200 connected to 32" Samsung UA32C5000 C200 connected to Denon 1610 AVR and 42" LG 42LH50YR Encore ENHGS-500 5 port Gigabit switch. |

RE: When can I expect to see Netflix on my C-200?
Most of the devices you mentioned are locked down pretty tight. I "think" what Netflix is looking at, is how easy a device can/could capture their streaming movie. Again, they are probably only trying to meet their obligations to the movie studios. Everyone plays their part.
I wouldn't want to capture their stuff because it's low grade video IMHO. Many love it, so each to their own. C-200, A-110 both playing from a DIY Linux Raid 5 server. Remuxes, Captures and Transcodes done on a desktop running; Win7, Intel i7 hexacore processor with 24 GB ram, WD VR OS drive and a WD Black 2 TB data drive. |

RE: When can I expect to see Netflix on my C-200?
You will never have Netflix on the C200 or the A200 because at the time of development and release of the 200 series Netflix was USA only and Netflix wants the players to be fully locked down in order to get their service.
It was not a smart idea to lock down the player just for one country who wants a service that 90% of people already have a device that can do it (similar situation with the Nintendo Wii and DVD playback). So they released another player that was USA only that provided all those services and locked down, you may have heard of it, the Popbox, much cheaper, less features, but you get netflix

RE: When can I expect to see Netflix on my C-200?
The Popbox doesn't have Netflix. It was supposed to have it, but they pulled it just before the Popbox was released.
For a while I hoped for a Netflix app for the Popbox because I heard that any apps developed for the Popbox would also work on the 200 series Popcorn Hour devices. I eventually gave up on the idea of Netflix ever making it to a Syabas product and bought a WD TV Live Plus. C-200 + WD Scorpio Blue 500GB Seek first to understand, then to be understood. |

If you want netflix on your c-200, then you get a small roku box and place it on top the c-200.

Yep doing research saves tears in the long run.
Why did you spend the extra on a better quality player when Netflix quality is what you are after? Using PlayON used to work for some with Netflix, not sure it still does. RE: When can I expect to see Netflix on my C-200?
Netflix has tons of older TV shows that my girlfriend and myself like to watch and there is no way I am going to download the terrabytes needed to store all those. In fact, most of the older shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel were on my server just for her to watch but now that she can watch them on Netflix I have that space other more important things like the bazzillionth edition of Star Wars. On my bedroom TV there is a Netflix widget so all set there. The living room and her sons bedroom both can only access Netflix through the X360 and that is a power hog. I am certain I will end up with a few cheap Roku's to solve the energy problem. PlayON requires a full time running PC somewhere in the house and I don't like leaving the PC's running (4 of them total) all the time especially when there is nothing to download or complain about online.

RE: When can I expect to see Netflix on my C-200?
I agree with the above mentioned. Just get a roku box instead of waiting. Makes life easier, besides, it's probably never going to happen on the C series. We have a logitech Revue and I love that little box - keyboard - internet browser and netflix all rolled up into one box and it works great along side my a-200

RE: When can I expect to see Netflix on my C-200?
netflix would be very useful, rather than waste all those applications in our c-200 that no one occupies, listen to radio, anyone do it?
![]() as expensive as a player does not have netflix, before buying even ask me, it was as obvious to come in...

RE: When can I expect to see Netflix on my C-200?
No one is arguing it won't be useful.
However, don't expect it to come to the C200/A2x0. No amount of polls or discussion for it's adoption will succeed. A200 connected to 32" Samsung UA32C5000 C200 connected to Denon 1610 AVR and 42" LG 42LH50YR Encore ENHGS-500 5 port Gigabit switch. |
