Announcing llink-2.3.0 release

RE: Announcing llink-2.3.0 release
It should indeed write the .bdb files, that is the visited db.

http://diskstation3:8001/film-HD/Jukebox/Other_All_1.html.

If you connect to llink "/" the url should just be "http://diskstation3:8001/", so where is the "film-HD/Jukebox/Other_All_1.html." coming from? You have a index.html in the root?

RE: Announcing llink-2.3.0 release
Forgive my lazyness if this has been discussed before. I would like to use llink but I can't reach the same stream speeds with it like with myihome, is this a limitation by default?
I can reach the a110 specs speed of about 42mbps with myihome, but it starts to stutter horribly when there's any kind of cpu/disk activity on the pc side, which is weird in itself.
SMB and NFS both work well too (even with cpu/disk activity) but they fail if a movie is steady above 32mbps give or take. This is why I would like to use llink but it can't even do ~20mbps for me. Any ideas? Thx Smile

RE: Announcing llink-2.3.0 release
llink tends to perform rather well, so your numbers are somewhat surprising. Which platform are you running llink on? If it is Windows you may need to set the priority on llink. Otherwise, you also have the buffersize= argument to the HTTP line in llink.conf to play with.

I run it on vista x64 and yea it's pretty weird and it probably has something to do with my setup in one way or another. The fact that myihome starts to stutter (even at lower ~25mbps bitrates) when there's any kind of cpu or disk activity leads me to belive it's tcp related. I don't have any firewalls or AV's running or blocking and I've also tried flushing tcp/ip stack and reset the winsock catalog, nothing made a difference.
What kind of buffersize settings does llink offer? Thx.

What kind of network do you have and how is it setup?
- wired, wireless, powerline, switched, etc. in short please describe your environment a more!

Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn.

RE: Announcing llink-2.3.0 release
First thing to do is open up the taskbar, and change the running llink's priority to something higher. See if that helps. Also, in llink.conf, the HTTP|buffersize= and try somethinglike 8192, 16384 and see if they help. (This is IO size buffer, not a pre-buffer).

RE: Announcing llink-2.3.0 release
@dc11ab
It's a wired 100mbit network through a router. Network setup is fine I've tested it extensively and I reach all the maximum speeds the a110 can handle, ~7mb/s for ftp, nfs, smb and http (with myihome) all within specs as well. All ftp nfs and smb stay steady at their max even with cpu/disk activity, whereas http starts to fail as soon as there's any kind of activity. For example it even starts to stutter when my wife is listening to her music on winamp, which is a small load on the cpu and disk.
I've upgraded every possible driver I could think of, I've tried enabling/disabling jumbo frames, large send offloads, etc. Nothing makes any difference. I even did a few 'tweaks' to the tcp/ip stack according to speedguide, that didn't help either. My pc setup is a quadcore 2.67ghz, 4 gigs of ram and 1tb+2tb both wd hdd's. Not exactly the greatest but it should be enough to handle some load and http streaming imo.
In the end the fact that llink starts stuttering immediately with larger bitrates leads me to believe it has something to do with tcp and then again I could be dead wrong. I'm open to any kind of ideas at this point.

@lundman
I've tried priorities up to 'realtime' and buffersizes from 8192 to 65536, nothing helped.

Sorry for the rant. Smile

RE: Announcing llink-2.3.0 release
Not sure if I should put this in a new thread (mods, please move if appropriate - ta). I am running llink 2.3.0 on my C200 (installed via NMT installer) but there is no UDP 1900 listening on the PCH, so UPNP is not working for me. Is there something I'm missing?

RE: Announcing llink-2.3.0 release
Could you install it again, just in case. The first 2.3.0 version had some problems starting UPNP. After that, we will have to get dirty to figure out what goes wrong. I assume you have an un-edited llink.conf.

Hi, well, OK, but I only installed it 30 minutes ago so I'm guessing it is the latest version. However, I will try again.

Yes, the llink.conf file is unedited. The whole install is completely default.

FWIW, I installed it to PCH C200 (USB). I have NMT Apps installed to a USB stick installed inside the C200. The media files are all on a 3.5" drive in the C200 (which comes up as SATA_DRIVE_A4).

No, reinstalling it didn't fix it. Sad

RE: Announcing llink-2.3.0 release
Oh heh, I thought maybe you installed it like a month ago. And Isee UPNP isn't even on by default:

SSDP|ON

Needs to have

SSDP|ON|UPNP

Build is from Aug21 which is pretty old. I will roll out a new binary I think.

RE: Announcing llink-2.3.0 release
Excelent - many thanks.

I added "|UPNP" and restarted llink. The C200 is now listening on UDP 1900 but the Recv-Q is building up and I'm not actually getting any response from the C200 when I try to "connect" on UDP 1900.

EDIT: It listens on UDP 1900 even without the change though for some reason I still don't get any response.

Ok, I have put up llink-2.3.2 for CSI for install. I'll make an announcement and start a new thread I think.

RE: Announcing llink-2.3.0 release
Sorry for reviving an old thread, but I have managed to fix my problem if anyone cares to take a look a couple of posts back.

The problem was vista's network throttling or rather "Multimedia Class Scheduler Service (MMCSS)". Without going into details what this is the main problem was any time my wifey played any kind of multimedia, be it an mp3 or a video on the pc, my video stream on the pch started to stutter. Because I have 2 gbit onboard nic's and a third separate one this service affected my network performance even more if the pc wasn't idle.

You can read a little what this service is and does here http://blogs.technet.com/b/markrussinovi...33290.aspx and you can disable it in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Multimedia\SystemProfile by changing "NetworkThrottlingIndex" value to hex ffffffff.
This seems to fix a lot of network and other problems too and I hope someone will find it useful.

While llink still doesn't work for me, at least I can now stream with myihome to a110's fullest http potential without interruptions Smile
