RE: [5 October 2011] A-300 Announcement, Specifications, Screenshots, UI Presentation
1) Will A-300 support 10-bit H.264 files?
2) Does new chipset have enough power to provide better support for ASS/SSA subtitles (some basic animation/karaoke effects support)?
2) Will A-300 provide full support for OGG Vorbis audio files (not some weird workaround with 5 second lag like in 200-series)?
4) Any chances for C-300 ?

RE: [5 October 2011] A-300 Announcement, Specifications, Screenshots, UI Presentation
not true we would love to switch to the new ui and we have no issue with that, if that would be the case then we would never bring new features at all and just release new devices everytime we bring a new feature, but we also respect the user projects where some will be affected by the switch to the new ui, which again could make many customers disapointed, so that's why we have a poll now.
We try to support all our devices as long as possible.
Anyway I am all for the new UI because I love it but I also don't use user projects at all.

Regards,
Werner

If we do roll out the new NMJv2 UI, it will be a one-way update, no rolling back the

No offend but this is just bla, bla, bla. I can give you at least two examples of the companies which by implementing the whole complete new UI (better, faster, much more WOW!) to the existing over 1.5 year product made the customers very, very happy...

There are no major technical issues here! The truth is that you do not want to make 200er to compete new 300er. And that is understandable but VERY, VERY dishonest to 200er community that was engaged and looked like used by Syabas, deliberately, with all cynicism to help working out new UI in conviction that these all is for 200er, to improve 200er… And now that was just a big lie? I can't believe it. And the poll poster by Werner doesn not change the facts a bit. .

It's more about that html based apps and YAMJ html skins wouldn't be possible anymore.
And though many of us can I think other users don't want to give up those things.

There is a chance to improve 200er like was never before. YAMJ is obsolete... and belongs to 100er.
Now the community can build NEW FLASH YAMJ - if the flash API shall be released to the public! Imagine the posibbilities!!!

RE: [5 October 2011] A-300 Announcement, Specifications, Screenshots, UI Presentation
I'll volunteer the information that what werner says is true.

During the beta/rc1 round I already voiced out in the beta tester forum that the changes in the firmware will break a lot of user developed features (notably CSI).

I like to think the beta tester forum is a microcosm of the general community and I have to admit we're pretty divided on the changes going on when we got our hands on the firmware. Initially there was a lot of surprise and disbelief because we were so used to the stability of earlier beta rounds.

I implore everyone to stop and think about the installed base of users;

- There maybe some who really don't care about new UI
- There maybe some who want the changes
- Then there's the countless other owners who don't even log-in this forum.

Our actions will dictate the fate of all of them so take a breath before you vote.

And this isn't a democracy really.

You can't win the poll with a simple +1 majority. It has to be a landslide either way where the UI will head toward.

These are installed products so if I was Syabas, I wouldn't even care if everybody here screamed to the high heavens because there's no compelling financial reason to do it.

Think about it...

If we go new UI, Syabas is deliberately putting themselves back to greater support costs (which they don't have to).

I personally think it is a lose lose situation. Bring the Flash UI to the 200 series, people will find a reason to complain about it being slow, buggy, etc... Don't bring the Flash UI and people will complain that Syabas is abandoning the 200 series users. Doesn't matter what the polls say

@Dave_D: I think it will cost them more to support to different UI, so I don't agree with you last sentence.

Bu shouldn't we discuss this in the other thread? http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...pid=511755

The new flash UI is quicker than the old gaya one... but of course slower than in a300.

The point being some people here will always find a reason to complain regardless of what gets done
