New UI for 200er Series, same as A-300 UI?!

Current UI is outdated. Time for change. I voted "Yes".

I vote YES because I think the new UI can give one good renovation to the not so nice UI of A-210.

I bought the popcorn only 3 weeks ago though I dislinke the UI.

Voted Yes since I'm really upset with the slowness of the current UI. I'll threw my c-200 from the windows if no radical changes done in UI because of my frustration.

By ''the community'' you mean yourself of course?! I'd be more than happy to see your contribution rather then you enforcing the hard work on somebody else.

I think C200 should be left like it is (with regular firmware bug resolving updates of course).

This is a product that has an epic history, I should know since I own it since day one. And let me tell you, this history has not been an easy one, it took more then 2 years to bring it to where it is now. And now you want to risk it by starting all over again?!

Well, that's just a slap in the face to all the community that worked closely together to raise such a wonderfull product, with such wonderful library of user apps!

If you want new fancy UI, buy the product that was built and advertised for that, and leave the rest of us to use our existing product the way it was originaly advertised.

Think about it. Will Syabas' engineers really be happy to make bugfixes for an old unsupported system where they're asked to develop stuff for that new flash UI?

I know that loosing some flexibility in the process is really bad but it looks like there's a nice reward at the end (look at the demos: multiple subtitle support, video info edited live-poster choice included-, who knows what else will come in the future, ...)

Remember, they still issue regular updates for A110.

NEW UI includes NMJ V2!
So the poll is also concerning NMJ V2

I deliberated it and decided to vote YES.

I've owned all PCH units from A-100 to C-200 so I know that progress requires some break from the current processes and procedures at some point to move on.

I did it when I bought my 1st 200 series (coming from 100 series) and I know I will probably buy a 300 series so I want them all to work in my house looking the same (albeit slower on the 200 series).

There's just some features on the 300 UI I can't ignore even if I have to re-do my current procedures for maintaining my home theater systems in my household.

If I don't update then I am left with no fresh FW no more! So really that means no choice!

Everybody else that wants new UI do have a choice - just buy A300.
So really the poll should have been:

a) do you want to leave the community without one of the most praised devices in the field?
b) do you want to let community decide if they want the new product (which we can't yet judge since it's not even out) and leave the rest enjoy what they built over the years?

Currently NMJ is not possible to use, and alternatives like YAMJ makes devices usable.
I guess you should not rise a question whether drop old UI or drop new UI - you should ensure that using old UI is still easily *possible* (without super hacking). I'll try to clarify:
- you should make UI plugable (simple switching between - may require reboot - choose UI in config files)
- you should open source old UI and then you may drop support for it, leave it for community. Of course by "open source" I mean giving a real opportunity to build old UI for community without breaking legal aspects of Sigma SDK (may require code refactoring?), not just publishing some uncompilable files.
- make new UI as default.

I guess that would require some effort from your side, but it would be a win/win a solution.
I would guess that some part of success of PCH really depends on this vast community-generated software (jukeboxes, skins, etc...) - I bought my device because I knew there is MPD port as well as alternative UPNP/DLNA solutions.

The option a) is not true... it is not the most praised device at all. It is rather disappointed expectations device, that now has a uniqe opportuinty to move forward somehow.

I understand that yours one is very well tuned by you to satisfy all your needs but I think that if you managed to do it before, you can do it again with the new possibilities and as far as I know there are more and more user apps that are flash based even with an old UI... as Eversion flash based YAMJ for example...

Sorry, but that's not really a choice for everyone ($); only if Syabas swaped my A210 for a new A300 - but I guess that will not happen .

I think in the end everybody must accept the choice of the majority, that's how votes work.
