Request: SopCast plugin
SopCast is a popular P2P-TV program with lots of sports channels. Since there is a Linux version I assume it can be somehow implemented.

Would be great for the upcoming football season.

Since the PH already features SayaTV this would mean competition to that function/service.

It has been requested previously and sort of declined, but it could be possible to introduce as a third party user application. Don't know the specs and performance demands of this particular app, though. The PH is rather slim when it comes to non-Video performance: RAM, CPU horsepowers etc. But if Vuze and SayaTV works, one would be inclined to this SopCast will work too - provided the stream is in a supported container and encoding, of course.

A workaround could be to have SopCast on a PC/Server (and transcode) via VLC, which in turn can pass on a stream to be picked up on the NMT.

Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn.

Well, competition never hurts, so that should be no reason to refuse SopCast.

I really hope that someone is capable of finding a way to install this on the PCH. Saya TV is nice but the content is boring.

I'll dive into the streaming option. Does anyone have some tips on how to set this up?

Yeah, tried this on Sunday at 2pm ;-) Absolute doddle to set up, could never get TVersity to work reliably with my 360, but works a treat with my new A100.

..but a plugin would be even better, then I wouldn't need my PC burning 175 watts in the other room just to transcode the Sopcast..

RE: Request: SopCast plugin
I don't fully understand the problem in doing this so maybe this is a stupid question.

Ok, it's pretty clear that it's not possible to run a sopcast link/stream from a web page such as MyP2P.eu directly from the PCH.

But it is possible to use the SOPCast software running on the computer to read the stream and then show that stream in PCH in the same way that I currently load http://127.0.0.1:8902 in my VLC Player to play the SOPCast stream?

Would love to know if possible, it would be good for me cause I usually watch hockey a couple of times a week on the computer, it'd be a whole lot better if I could get that on the TV instead, even if it still involves the computer.

Anyone know if possible?

RE: Request: SopCast plugin
if you find out how to do this please let us know. I made a link to my PC for sopcast streams like this

Sopcast stream

Then I start a sopcast stream and open VLC and choose to transcode it with MPEG2-TS encapsulation, m4v video and mpga audio. When I attempt to run it on the Popcorn all I get is audio and one frozen video frame. I must be missing something but I can't figure it out.

RE: Request: SopCast plugin
i wrote a guide for a friend a while ago on sopcast, tversity and vlc for the ps3 but it works on the popcorn aswell (360 too as far as i know) i'll post it here if someone wants it.
as for the other questions - PCH doesnt support mms
and to get vlc running correctly with TVersity create a new shortcut to vlc.exe and edit it so it looks like this
"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" http://192.168.0.2:8902 --sout "#duplicate{dst=std{access=mmsh,mux=asfh,dst=:1234}}"
the ip used is mine so you may need to change this so it matches your pc, then just enter your sopcast stream ip into vlc and thats you

There is nothing to see here, move along.
