Hi Guys,
I need some help.
I've been using an external harddrive on my hdx1000 for 6months and finally got a wd green caviar 1tb internal hard drive.
The drive is in the hdx, do i need a usb stick for th efirmware and apps or can i use an external drive via usb to install these?

You can install as long as the apps file is available via USB, be that a USB stick or USB HDD.
A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI
CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407

Hi Chris thanks for the reply. I spent all night last night trying to install via usb external hdd. It kept coming up with the "please insert usb etc etc". I even deleted EVERYTHING off the external drive to see if there were conflicts going on between various file types. Still nada.
Could you point me in the direction of the latest available firmware update and nmt app update please? Do you need to install the firmware before app or is it all in the same file?
Appreciate any help offered.

Well its not a case of the latest firmware as HDX no longer provide any updates for the HDX1000.
The last firmware and NMT Apps are available here:-
http://www.hdx.ro/descarcahdx1000.php
12 April is the last HDX firmware.
Looks like you'll have to find a USB stick. I seem to remember something about the HDX and the USB slots, something about having to use a certain slot, either upper or lower.

Well I manged to get the firmware on and the hdd is recognised on the home screen, now for the apps, keeps saying my source is invalid, i've renamed the nmt app file to the correct name, i tried it without the .nmt extension. It just wont have it. To be honest the only thing I want it do is have a yamj jukebox on it so I can view the films and music in a more desirable way than the 80's style home screen.
Yes you are correct the usb slot is the one closest to the LAN port, the other one is something to do with the card reader or so i read yesterday.
