HDX 1000 - Can't see the hard disk

Greetings.


I was transferring files earlier from my PC to the HDX and after that I can't see the hard disk in the menu. If I connect it to the PC I can't see it either, just tells me I need to format. Could this have happened because I didn't use "safely remove hardware" and just unplugged the USB chord?

I looked around the forums and didn't see this topic so I'm hoping this isn't something that has been dealt with 100 times. Any suggestions?

Yes you can cause problems by not safely disconnecting or trying to use the NMT whilst connecting via USB Slave. Remember that in order for a PC to read the HDD it has to see it as a Removable Drive, it cannot do that if you are using the NMT, so in reverse when disconnecting think of this and you'll remember in future.

However it could also be hardware issues with the HDD.

I pretty much tried everything but finally just formatted the disk which worked, sucks losing the data but now I can start over again

Yep thats why having the NMT Apps installed on USB is a great idea as it stops you losing all your content if the /share or apps become corrup[ted. It also enables you to format the HDD to NTFS and use USB Slave without the need for any Linux drivers.
