Store the NMJ database on USB if no internal disk
I noticed there is an internal hard drive the database is stored on it. But if there is no internal hard drive, the db is stored on the network share.

It would be more efficient if we could store the database on a USB media that offers access times and transfert rates much more interesting Smile

RE: Store the NMJ database on USB if no internal disk
I added a poll even if I'm not sure it interests many people, no internal disk is not the common use...

But it would be logical to store the db on the USB media with the NMT Apps Smile

I tested the same library stored on internal hard disk and on a network share, the load time is slower on the network (even with Gigabit) Sad

RE: Store the NMJ database on USB if no internal disk
The location that is scanned is where the database is written. So scan a network share and your database goes on the share. Scan the internal HDD and your database is on the HDD.

Are you sure that the nmj_database is stored on an internal HDD if your NMJ files are on a network share? That would be different from the 200 series and welcome.

RE: Store the NMJ database on USB if no internal disk
I've done somethibg simular on my a200.
My setup are following. A200 with no internal hdd, but one usb stick connected. Two nas, one with series and one with movies.
I installed nmt tools on the usb stick and added a share which contains two folders, one for each nas. The db is then created on the usb stick

RE: Store the NMJ database on USB if no internal disk
I can't reproduce the bug...

Even without internal hard drive, the NMJ DB is stored on my USB Key confused (tested with read only and read write)

I think that the problem occurs only with NFS shares. In fact, I made my first test with NFS.

Or it's due to de "NMT Media Destination" Huh

RE: Store the NMJ database on USB if no internal disk
I dont think we can help on this until we get the 300 as the UI/NMJ interface is different and selecting shares etc. seems different. For example you cannot set a network location as your Media Drive which may now be possible or be confused with NMJ library setting.

On the 200 if you only have a USB stick and NMT Apps then your USB is always going to be your /share aka Media Drive. Only if you add a second USB stick or HDD do you have to select a different Media Drive if you want the location to differ from where the NMT Apps are installed.
