RE: Workgroup & Device Name
Works fine with my Synology NAS, simply created a user on the NAS called A300 with a password, gave that user access rights to my shared folders, then accessed on the A300 using the user A300 with the password.

Follow the steps here to see the screenshots of what I'm talking about:-
http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/i..._NAS_setup

My Workgroup is called WORKGROUP on my network. That has been an issue with the 200 series where changes to the workgroup were not being saved. So try the default name if you are not using it for your workgroup.

RE: Workgroup & Device Name
Okay, although this is already known to some, I really would like to share my happiness with the community that my NMJ works perfectly on my PCH A-300 without an internal HDD! Big Grin

The only extra step I really needed to take was to enable the guest account on my Synology NAS and give the guest account access to those folders that contain the media that I want the A-300 to make a video wall with.

So, in order to get it working I did the following:
0) rename my entire network to WORKGROUP
1) do a factory reset (or remove all prior made settings on the A-300) - if you know what you're doing this step is probably not necessary
2) I made a user account called A300 on my Synology NAS (as per chris57 description above)
3) enabled guest account on my Synology NAS (which I disabled a long time ago) and give read privileges to those folders that contain media -> VERY IMPORTANT. Without this step the whole thing doesn't work - I know because I skipped this step in a previous try...
4) browse network with A-300 (which now works, because previously browsing the network without open guest account did not work at all) and press the yellow button to create a share when you're in the desired folder
4) while creating the share, use the new A300 Synology account including the password. Make sure you're creating a Samba share. NFS or NFS TCP did not work for me (and other users).
5) go back to home screen and to network and then go into the just created share
6) press the left button to go into the menu on the left and then press the J button to create a NMJ jukebox.

It now finds (most) movies and the video wall worked for me!

RE: Workgroup & Device Name
Hi all,
have the same problem.
Can't share my HDD in NMT with desktop.
Always getting autorisation problems. Tried almost everything. Almost desperate.
Isn't it possible to deactivate all autorizathion checks in the A300.

I bought the HDD in the NMT to be able to put movies directly from desktop on A300. But still not able.
Manual of A300 not available, manuals of A210 and C200 read; still no success.

Can somebody help PLEASE

IF the solution would be that I have to buy a NAS I'll do that; as long as it works.

I also did a factory reset, strange thing however the shares where still available ofter the reset.

reg,
SalHuh

Start your own thread and give as much information and details on your setup and settings as possible.

RE: Workgroup & Device Name
Just to update Smile

This is still a problem. NFS works fine, Samba does not. I had absolutely no problems with the A-100 and the A-110. There's no way I'm going to change the network workgroup or allow guest access just that it works with the media player. Lets hope this gets fixed in a firmware update Smile

@marbsal: go here: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/forumd...118&page=1 - on the top right, bellow the announcements and above the threads you'll see a blue button "new thread".

thanks, this worked for me, after endless retries. Also, for me, NFS did not work. Thanks again! Lightbulb

Just to add:

if you don't like your guest account being open:
after step 6, go back to your NAS setup, edit Guestaccount --> grant 'no access' to all the shared folders.

Funny thing is after i tried the 6 steps i tried to disable the guest account again, but then i wasn't able to access my server (share doesn't exist and all that blabla) THIS MUST BE A BUG...but then i tried to leave my guest account open, but disable all the read/write stuff..just no access to everything...

So any guest trying to get in your server doesn't get anything, but you popcorn 300 stays working.

That indeed is the trick. it aint working with NFS but it does work with samba! Big Grin
