Egreat M34a question

Hi all,

New guy here. I have a M34A. It works great, but I've got a new 3TB drive and it apparently can't read it. I tried a 2 TB drive and that works fine.

I browsed a few threads and was wondering if this is a firmware issue?

Hi Cmdinla. I just tried a 3TB Hitachi Touro Pro on both my Egreat 34A and on a PopcornHour a-110, both with the most recent firmware (which in the case of the EGreat is a couple of years old) and, in both cases USB failed. I have no problems with other smaller drives. Regards, Allan

It appears that I need a firmware update, but I hear that the M34a is no longer supported.. I'll keep looking into it.

You are correct, however, that none of the EGreat NMTs are supported and no further firmware updates are expected.

Hi there,

I have a M34a and isn't it a newer firmware? Is there a modified firmware to install? Can I install another firmware like PHC A100 or another one.

My M34a didn't play a lot of videos.

Please guys, help me.

NO!

You can get some MKV to play if you remove header compression using MKVMerge. eGreat do not provide any more updates so your player has no updates. After sale support is something you should consider when pricing a unit.

Reading back, it's not clear whether we're talking about an internal or external drive. I would imagine that an external drive would work just fine, regardless of the capacity. I would also imagine that an internal drive could be partitioned in a PC, then installed in the NMT which would then believe it has 2 drives installed. Inconvenient, perhaps, but better than nothing and worth a shot. Check the wiki again for details on standard partitions, assuming you want to install NMTapps to the internal drive.
