[AUDIO] PCH-A110 not playing audio on some files! Codec problem?

I'm having some troubles with audio playing on my PCH-A110.

The next info is from the files with which I'm having troubles:

These are recent episodes of two different TV Shows. This audio problem is happening on ALL episodes of both seasons of these TV Shows. Before this, I've never had any problem playing files on PCH-A110.

I guess it should be a codec problem as I've other files which continue to play nice.

My PCH-A110 is running latest firmware (almost since its release) but the problem only started to happen a few weeks ago.

Does anyone has the same problem?

I have just started getting similar issues with The Good Wife recently. Strange, hasnt been a problem before.

It has to do with the newer files being encoded as VBR mp3. Open it in VirtualDub (it should notify you about the issue), "Direct Stream Copy" the video, "Full processing mode" on the audio and compression to mp3. Took less than a minute per video to fix. My PCH-110 now plays these files without issue.

Ok, that's a workaround. Thank you.

But I would like to see a fix on the firmware so that I don't have to that to watch a video file. Does anyone knows if there will be a fix for this?

Same problem here with loads of new video files, Fringe, Revenge, Grimm,...
Anybody knows there will be a fix? Problem doesn't exist on my pch-a200.

Yes. It's also happening to me on Fringe.

A firmware fix would be useful!

If this continues, I'm thinking of buying a new media player, just don't know what yet, any ideas?

Tbh, when was the A-110 released? I think I got mine half of 2008, so it had a pretty good run.
I'd be nice to know if they cut support or not... if I get me a new media player and they release a firmware for the A-110 next week, I'll be kicking myself.
So any way to know if they're planning to fix this issue?

I guess support for PCH A110 is no more. Links for firmware updates on this site header are no longer there...

They could at least announce that they're stopping support rather than having us wait for it.

Same problem here on loads of new downloads. I was using MkVerge initially as a workaround, which seemed to work for a while, but that's no longer working! The files play perfectly on my PC so I'm sure it's a firmware thing.

I'm with you guys about wanting to know if they are going to continue to support the A110. Not sure if I would go all out for another PCH. It's nice, but the functionality I'm using is just as a player. There are other, less expensive players out there...or a HTPC. It doesn't look like the C300 supports 3D BD, but I see that you can add a BD drive.

This is very annoying. It's only started happening in the last few months. Nothing more annoying that starting a movie and no audio

MKVMerge works for me. It only takes a few minutes and the file plays.
