Can anyone tell me, what the big difference is between the A-300 and the C-300 that makes the 200 euro/dollars extra logical?
Is it only the option to build-in that BR and the LCD?

The big difference is the full Blu-ray licence that's needed to decode original/protected discs.

It doesn't come for free and Syabas need to pass the cost on.

If you want to play BluRay rips in folder form or ISO then you technically require a BluRay license. Playing MKVs or other high-def formats won't.

It does seem that the A-300 will play BluRay rips though, although I'm not sure how they're doing that or whether it will last.

Thoughts on Syabas support? Share them here

What??? Where are you getting this info???

The A series will play folders or ISOs just fine, the caveat here is if you rip them with DRM infection still in place, and why would you want do that when the main programs used for ripping the BDs remove it.

Unless you plan on using a BD drive and want to directly play commercial (purchased/rented) movies, its not technically needed.

There does however remain the question of Full BD navigation verse BD Lite that I would still like some clarification on

You must not forget the RF and IR instead of only IR. The A300 have only IR.

Native Resolution

I have been waiting for that on the C200 for ages now.

Only my Lumagen Radiance should do the scaling

Do we have any news about?

I'm owner of a Lumagen Radiance processor too and I'm waiting for these features to be implemented in order to buy a PopcornHour. Big Grin

By the way, I guess the A-300 and the C-300 are sharing most of the hardware so as soon as one of them gets the features implemented the other will follow in a short time, right?

RE: [10 December 2011] C-300 Announcement, Specifications, UI Presentation, TFT Demo
In the Netherlands there are already 16+ shops selling the PCH C-300 since friday last week. How is it possible the product was shipped to retailers with non-official firmware? It seems this causes discomfort with some customers that expect a fully working device for the price they payed (mostly regarding currently unsupported CD/DVD/BD drives & TFT screen yet not being functional).

On a more personal note: I expect a new mediaplayer to be a device with a lot of opportunities and freedom, but also as a product that is ongoing in development. For now I enjoy the product with the possibilities it allready offers and I have confidence in future support from Syabas. Scaling to "full-screen" for instance performs better then on my PCH-110 and some .flac-audiofiles that didn't play before now perform effortless.

One more question before I run to the shop to get one........What is the outputrate of flac and dtshd-ma?
Most players are bitstreaming, but only up to a bitrate of 24....What about the pch?

My understanding is that the A300 will do Full BD navigation complete with the original menus etc. providing it's from a source that has already been decrypted (ie. folder/iso rip).

The only thing it can't do is read an original disc or an .iso image that hasn't had the AACS/BD+ protection removed You would need the C300 to do this.

Sort of off topic but.........those of us with c-200's with blown psu's would much appreciate it if you could support your existing customers and make new psu's available. "Out of stock" is getting somewhat tedious.

Check your (local) supplier for the PSU.
There's at least one supplier in the Netherlands that has them in stock and is shipping within 48 hours.

Subbing, because Im interested in this model. Current playing unprotected ISO rips on an Oppo 93 (which works flawlessly with direct connection), but looking for something that can handle an external drive larger than a 2TB Smile

Just need to research C300 vs A300.
Hey guys, as a PH newbie, can you clear up a couple of things.

Currently, I use an EHD with my Oppo, that has esata and usb connections. esata stays connected to the Oppo, and the USB cable is for my laptop. When I want to rip something to iso, I connect my laptop to the USB cable, and rip straight from my blu-ray drive to the hard drive connected to the Oppo.

I see the C300 has quick swap hard drive dock, just wondering what that mean. Also, whats the largest HDD the 300 is compatible with? Finally, using my current ripping method, can I rip straight from my laptop drive to the PH, or would I have to rip to the laptop drive, then transfer somehow to the 300?

Thanks.
