RE: [6 December 2011] C-300 Announcement, Specifications, Screenshots, UI Presentation
(12-07-2011 12:22 AM)m6rtg Wrote: PCH should be focusing on getting the NMJv2 working to a reasonable standard on the A-300, and writing user guides to accompany products already shipping before launching another NMJv2 enabled device. Current Runtime of whatever is playing or time remaining Possible TV Banner/Poster of Episode playing Note to other posters I see a lot of people annoyed about this being released but they are a business and need to bring in extra revenue to support the cost of the firmware for all the other devices not being sold anymore. I must admit I am dissapointed about it not playing 3D BluRay so i see no reason to buy the 300 series just yet. I have a A200 which plays all my files from a Synology NAS 210j mainly MKV 720p TV Releases MKV 1080p DTS Movies BluRay DTS-MA/TrueHD ISOs passed through to my AV Receiver I have NMJ running on two shares loading the movies screen automatically and my 500 films are updated manually using NMJtool and I have experienced not a single issues with my box which requires a firmware update? I think after the next update it will only be maintained for playback issues of upto date files. Does the 300 series play ALAC files now Apple have made it available? |

Also, wondering what the purpose of a built-in 2.5" low-res TFT screen is when it's most likely already connected to a > 50" HD TV? ADS! Glorious ads, ever changing while we watch tv! That sale at BurgerKing? Now you will be informed (Nachoburger comes out Friday!), need new slacks? The C300 LCD will inform you of the sale at Masons. Straight from us, to your living room, ads! |

Jakamal and Sledgehamma:
I was not aware that Marvell doesn't support NFS, I wonder why? Sigma's SDK isn't perfect either, compared to RealTek SDK 4.5, but isn't it the firmware devs job to make good firmware for their product? |

RE: [6 December 2011] C-300 Announcement, Specifications, Screenshots, UI Presentation
Then get a boxee. Oh wait... boxee doesn't do BD Menus... nor HD Audio... nor this nor that. You can't win them all.
It's not a technical issue preventing Netflix to run. Netflix's terms to allow it to be put on the firmware would have required Syabas to lock the player down to the point it will impact it's other core functions that Syabas just deemed to be not worth it. A200 connected to 32" Samsung UA32C5000 C200 connected to Denon 1610 AVR and 42" LG 42LH50YR Encore ENHGS-500 5 port Gigabit switch. |

RE: [6 December 2011] C-300 Announcement, Specifications, Screenshots, UI Presentation
Should have way better specs since it is the flagship.
C300=A300 in a bigger box , with bd licence (worse for cinavia?) , hdd/bd tray , +/- inputs and more expensive still remaining without 3d frame packing support. From my point of view , C-300 should have been released somewhere in mid 2012 with the new sigma 8910 (with or without the scaler) |

Last I checked (today) the C-200 was still for sale, so this excuse doesn't hold water. There are still bugs that impact playback that have been in there from day one, so we're quite reasonably pissed off with Syabas and their crappy support this past 12 months. Then you are clearly lucky with how you use yours. Have any MKVs with more than 63 chapters because that's what the original BD or DVD contained? Oh, none of the chapters work any longer. Use forced subtitles in your MKVs because you have users who want to watch films in more than one language? Let's see, it'll pick a random language from the different forced tracks to display, and not the one corresponding to the audio track you're listening to. Stop and resume a 16:9 DVD ISO? Oh look, it's now playing it 2.35:1. I could go on with a big long list. And none of these feature requests; they are basic bugs in playback that should have been fixed long ago before they even began dreaming of developing the 300 series. Except you lose out on HD audio with an htpc unless you use retail disc's and powerdvd, an ffmpeg /xbmc truehd support is iffy at best. HTPC is not the way to go over everyone. if you want online content get a roku, if you want a fancy UI go with htpc if you want good playback go with hardware player. Its simple as that, but a lot of people want a little bit of everything and nothing comes close. (12-07-2011 04:04 AM)vadergr Wrote: Should have way better specs since it is the flagship. You cant sit around and wait for a chip to be available you have to have incoming revenue. and who is to say the 8910 even sees the light of day it was supposed to be out by now, So to say hey lets wait for it it might not be out for another year or even at all. |

(12-07-2011 04:41 AM)geekuix Wrote: no 7.1 analog output? why? Because, contrary to the comparison chart Werner published, it doesn't decode HD audio fully, so the 7.1 output would be of limited use for the likes of FLAC audio. Note that Dolby TrueHD is pass-through only, for instance. Thoughts on Syabas support? Share them here |

RE: [6 December 2011] C-300 Announcement, Specifications, Screenshots, UI Presentation
^^ it doesnt have anything to do with playing backups, netflix wanted some things on the box to change no one but syabas knows what it was. but they figured it was not worth it just for netflix, Remember most pch customers are EU so netflix doesnt concern them.

RE: [6 December 2011] C-300 Announcement, Specifications, Screenshots, UI Presentation
I guess this one is mainly for people that don't already have a C-200. This one doesn't offer that much news and is simply way to expensive, seeing that the competition gives you a BD-drive included for this price.
C200 + 4GB USB stick + LiteOn BD-rom and A400 without internal storage via HDMI to Yamaha RX-V767 receiver to LG 47LW650S full HD TV and Panasonic PT-AE3000U full HD beamer, all media on Synology DS411j |
