I think I had some stuttering when I first got it and I think I had to change the video setting. I can't remeber for sure but you might give it a try. I can play files fine, (other than the problem mentioned below) it just takes up to 90 seconds to bring up the network shares, and if I hit back, I'm sitting again to get back to the root menu. Another problem I'm having is steaks flashing across the screen with some files. They play fine on the A,C-200 but not on the A-300. I've tried everything, changed HDMI, tried different port, TV but it has to be in the PCH. If I could I would return it for a A-210. If nothing else, I may have to do a RMA. I'm not really excited about the new GUI either. |

Please do feedback issues so that others can confirm. If at least two others confirm then create a Bug thread giving as much details as possible in the 300 series Bug reporting section:-
http://www.networkedmediatank.com/forumd...hp?fid=117 Check that there is not a thread already on the topic. If you dont get others confirming then please post in the 300 section hardware/installation, video or audio section depending on what type of issue you are having:- http://www.networkedmediatank.com/forumd...hp?fid=118 So that others may try and help you. Forget the Auto/100/10 thing as that is 200 series advice and the 300 has none of the gigabit compatibility issue that the 200 had for some. Try streaming the bird test files. They dont have subtitles, which in themselves are often a cause of stutter, and are marked at the bitrates of each file you watch the image and see if you get any stutter:- http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=28259 I did notice a bit of stutter on a 1:1 Bluray the other day since this firmware. I was only testing the Full Playback and whether subs displayed if selected though so thought no more of it. So is there a general verdict on this new firmware for the A-300? I received my A-300 a month or so back, I got to play with it for a week, and since then it's been wrapped up under the Christmas tree... So I'm following all this new firmware talk rather keenly, in anticipation of plugging it back in on Christmas Day, and then addressing the big question - to update, or not to update?
Typically on threads like this, it's understandably the dissatisfied customers that post, while those that have no problems are just off enjoying their devices, so I thought I'd see if I could get an idea of whether everyone is having a bad experience with the update, or if it's evenly split? Thoughts? |

Reminds me of when I was 12, I wanted a Lionel train set and after Thanksgivig my parents took me shopping a let me pick the set I wanted. I could not use or even see it until Christmas, so I would sneek into their closet occasionally and just look at the box. That month seemed like 6 months before Christmas came |

All these childhood trauma's.... but it gets really interesting when adult start doing this to themselves...
Me I would have installed the player use it every day and then nicely wrapped the empty cardboard box under the Christmas tree.. Ghee look what Santa got me.... ain't that just wonderful

Well, it hasn't been so bad. I've been spending the last month patiently copying all of my DVDs (can't do the blu-rays yet, as our laptop is a bit old to have a blu-ray drive), and then transferring them onto the NAS. So come Christmas the whole thing should be ready to roll.
Anyway - any firm firmware thoughts? Is everyone having problems, or are some of you out there quite happy? Or are most of the problems stemming from "non-English" uses (eg there seem to be some subtitle issues...)??? |

i have issues with playing back mkvs, which i have reported about 4 weeks ago. the december firmware has not fixed the issue. slow data transfer from internal drive to usb.
i bought this box mainly because of YAMJ, it is an alternative to xbmc, else i would go with a different media player. patiently waiting for the next firmware, hopefully will better transfer rate from internal drive onto usb and fixed MKV issue. |

Are you making these mkv's yourself? mkvmerge had a bug fix recently and they were breaking mkv playback.

if you play mkvs, stop, then press enter to play,, you will get a black screen while the subtitles are being play. you get no video..
if you stop, and play a few times it works again. or rewind by 30s will get you video and audio again. Chris (Moderator) has encountered this issue as well. see this post ![]() http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...600&page=2 |

Ever since new firmware, I can't play HD .m4v video files. I've outlined the issue in this thread: http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=57678. Just odd that this specific playback broke with the new firmware. Nothing else was changed!
