A-300 Simple User Interface
I just got my A-300. I'm an owner of a Dune Smart B1. I have spent a lot of time today reading but I'm not sure if its possible.

I want to put some simple backgrounds and icons for my folders to show, just like Dune and dune_folder.txt.

On Dune, If you have dune_folder.txt in your folder and the corresponding images, when you navigate to that folder on dune, you see the images and the background. No need for a separate jukebox app or database generation. Is this possible with A-300?

I don't want for A-300 to create a database of my files, I simply want to see a background or cover wall thumbnails when I go into a folder.

RE: A-300 Simple User Interface
If you dont want to use NMJ then you can do some of what you want.

Simply rename the image file to the same as the video:
The Wire.s01e01.mkv
The Wire.s01e01.jpg

Then when in the standard UI presss the left NAV button and select the bottom option called Settings. Then chose Thumbnail rather than List.
That will then display a cover to the lefthandside and the filenames on the right handside.

If you select the Filter option and set it to Video only then you will not see the image files in your files.

Same issue with me.
If i do as you tell which filter option should i use to see the cover (jpeg) files?
If i do what you will answer me will i be able to choose the avi or mkv file by pressing enter and start the movie?
At the end the A300 will remember my settings and each time i turn on the A300 will remember and show the files as we want?

RE: A-300 Simple User Interface
Thanks, that's quite limited. You know I'm quite surprised by the power and simplicity of Dune UI.

On Dune, I can configure each folder the way I want. For example I can configure that when I go inside a movie folder, it shows only the background that could be the detailed information of the movie and hide the file list. Clicking on that screen would start the movie to play. Each folder has his configuration inside it and it's completely portable with the media, fast and no need for scanning or database generation beforehand.

Every one of your posts mentions the Dune player for some reason, they are sounding like adverts. Stop it as we are the NMT forum and do not need your adverts thank you.

I've told you what option to use to just show video, its Video.

As MKV and AVI are Video they will be shown. As the images are jpg they are not Video and are not shown.

Yes the player remembers the settings.

RE: A-300 Simple User Interface
Are you kidding me? That's not a way of talking to people. I post on other forums AVS, XBMC, mpcclub, mention players and compare them with no problem. I was wondering if I can achieve that and if not, it's a great idea that Popcorn Hour could consider to implement in the future.

Don't expect the NMT's to look and behave like the Dune. Try to figure it out and use it's abilities to the best. Many features are implemented differently between the players on the market. They can be good/bad/not at all/in a totally different manner etc. Quite natural.

You will most likely find functions and features on both players you wish the other one had, even though your favorites may be on one or the other. But just assuming that the NMT is 'limited' because you are not used to the way(s) it does things (in this case with movie information) come off as fanboy-ish.

The idea to have meta files per folder is nice, though. I like it too, but that's another story.

Audio, video, disco - I hear, I see, I learn.
