Login & Remotely Upload to a PCH at a Distant Location
I'm sorry in advance if this is too basic and can be found elsewhere in the forum. I did multiple searches and couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. Here's the deal: My girlfriend lives 100 miles away and I see her on the weekends. She has a PCH A-110 and I have a PCH C-200. I usually take along some of our favorite shows or movies on a portable hard drive. However, all it takes is forgetting the hard drive and missing a season finale to put me in the doghouse. I've been looking for a way to occassionally login to her PCH A-110 and remotely load some of my downloads prior to our weekend. Any suggestions? Can this be done by creating a private torrent of one of my files to share on my end and loading it to her PCH? Can this torrent idea be done remotely? How? FYI, I don't want to "stream" items from my location . . . too much stuttering and poor quality. Also, she's not technically savy enough to download stuff directly. Basically, I want to download material and remotely upload to her PCH in another location. Please help . . . You can save our relationship!

Of course that can be done. Take a look at rsync. Some telnet, network and linux experience is required though.

RE: Login & Remotely Upload to a PCH at a Distant Location
If you dont want to remotely access or use rsync then you could do as you suggest and create a tnt torrent file with a public server as the tracker. then you could simply send her the link.
Alternatively look into things like Dropbox or cloud type setups as that would be ideal. A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |

a more technical expierences solution would be with things like vpn connection. and then you could see her a110 on your network. It requires possible some extra device ar your girlfriends house or configure there router.
after that it is your choice how you copy files from your home too here home. Rsync , windows file copy, robocopy what ever your like |

Why don't you use FTP?

FTP exactly.... just don't forget to check her router's firewall if port 21 is open as a service.
Alternatively put all you movies and stuff on a 2TB USB drive and make her a gift.... PCH-A100/A210/C200/A400 500GB EXT3 HDD<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10 13 NTFS USB drives on 3 hubs attached to the A300, 3 Seagate blackarmour NAS 3TB The inability to setup and configure the NMT should not be disguised as a defect of the box |
