Watching 3D movies
Hi guys,
I just bought myself a "personal 3D viewer" from Sony, and while waiting for it to arrive (Monday!!! Big Grin ) I was wondering if anyone have experience with 3D content from the C200.

To try them out to see if I can be bothered to buy a BD-player and movies I've gotten hold of some trailers to watch. Some of the are SBS (side by side) some of them are over/under and some just specify 3D. Will the glasses figure this out by itself, or do I need to instruct the player to do something?

Cheers!

Hello.
Just put you 3D movie in PCH as follows:

Nameodthemovie.3DSBS.avi

When you click PLAY themovie starts and the TV switches to the 3D Mode.
Use your glasses and enjoy it.

A-200 with WD Caviar Green 1.5TB WD15EARS
Powered by Moovika case Fanless with ArticSilver.

The way it should be.

Thanks - will try that! Really looking forward to these, as I cannot watch regular 3D TV. Gets dizzy and sick confused But with these I get a 720p monitor for each eye and no outside light on the screen Big Grin

Will do! How about the over/under, by the way? Should I name them SBS as well?

I believe it's TAB for those.. Not sure it really matters to pch, just need one to trigger it.. another option is modify the mkv itself and turn on the 3d flag. there's also a mk3d extension for mkv 3d files, not sure if the pch would trigger on this extension (or even play them).

Excellent info! I'll try them with the SBS tag. If that doesn't work, I'll try TAB. If the doesn't work either I'll try setting the 3D flag.

Cheers! Smile

RE: Watching 3D movies
Do your guys' TV enter 3D mode by itself? The glasses are supposed to sense 3D, but didn't from the mkvs I threw at it. I'm going to try some ISO files as well and see what happens...

Ok, thanks - need to check if my receiver strips parts of the signal or something, then confused

BTW: Is that for mkv, iso or BD?

RE: Watching 3D movies
Ok, now...is there a way to check if the player is actually in 3D mode or not? I suspect it is in fact not. One of the reasons are that all menus are still in 2D, and (external) subtitles are mis-aligned.

Is there a way to force the C200 into 3D mode?

Thanks, guys! Smile

RE: Watching 3D movies
The C200 has no 3D mode. All the SBS and TAB formats are simply a normal HD-picture with 2 pictures in them. All the C200 does when it detects it's a 3D file (either by the naming or by the flag in an MKV) is to send the signal to the TV (or whatever device is connected) to switch to the proper 3D mode. For me this works perfectly. I did however have another receiver before that didn't support 3D, and that one didn't pass through that signal. But after changing the receiver to one with HDMI 1.4 all is well Big Grin
So you can't switch your C200 to 3D because there is no 3D as far as the C200 is concerned. You'll have to do that on the viewing-device. And it should be easy enough to see if you're in 3D mode, because if not, you'll see 2 times the image next to each other or on top of each other.
The fact that you have menu's is unusual though. Never had a file yet with 3D SBS and menus. And full 3D will of course not work on the C200 (or C300).

RE: Watching 3D movies
The C-200 does not go into 3-D mode.
It simply sends the HDMI command to put your TV into 3-D mode IF the file is a side-by-side or top-and-bottom format and is internally flagged as such or the filename ends in 3dsbs.mkv or 3dtab.mkv.

RE: Watching 3D movies
Ok, thanks. The receiver has HDMI 1.4, and my TV isn't 3D so cannot double check with that. However, the glasses stay in 2D so I have to manually switch.

The menus I'm talking about, by the way, are the PCH and 3D glasses menus. There are no menus i the mkvs Smile

Cheers!

RE: Watching 3D movies
Ah, yes. Those menu's will be in 2D. Unfortunately the C200 doesn't make those available properly in 3D. Should be pretty easy and would be nice if they did that.
