There are occasional other programmers that lend a hand (Ilgizar does a great job for our Russian users), so I am finding it very hard to keep up with the things that need to be done with YAMJ to keep it afloat, let alone try and patch up some of the holes that I see need fixing.

I find it strange that both you and mr accident have to beg for help. I've never seen this before, maybe it not so unusual?
either way maybe the right way is to ask why? why aren't coders interested in helping?

If I knew that, I could mitigate the issues. Perhaps it's just the lack of coders, or we've done such a good job no one wants any big fixes?

RE: Appeal for help
If you look through some of my posts you will know I have no idea......but without YAMJ and the support from you guys I would not have the system I have!!! I only come on here when I need some help or recieve some errors or if I see a post I know the answer to (just being honest)...........

Not a coder/developer, but I probably have a few hours a week I can help out...not sure what I can help with, but if there is anything you think I could help with please let me know.

Documentation? Always need help making the documentation up to date, tidying it up, adding to it, etc.

RE: Appeal for help
Look at the wiki pages http://code.google.com/p/moviejukebox/w/list

You can either, pick something you know about and update it;
pick something you know little about and research it and update it;
read through for inconsistencies;
read through for sense, i.e. does it make sense to a new person?

I can give you edit privileges to the wiki once you know what you want to do

UpgradingMovieJukebox
Updating the MovieJukebox Files
The next step is to delete the lib and properties folders to ensure a clean upgrade and then simply extract the latest zip file and overwrite the files in your MovieJukebox directory.
I think this is confusing; I read this as delete lib & properties folder and then overwrite all folders and files in your YAMJ folder from your extract folder….think it is the word overwite. If you delete the lib and properties folders then you would not need to overwrite them.
I would reword this as:
The next step is to delete the lib and properties folders to ensure a clean upgrade and then simply extract the latest zip file and replace these 2 folders (the lib and properties) with the new version. Don't touch anything else.

Plugins
Introduction
If you want to use a different plugin other than the default IMDB to gather information in a different language you will need to edit the moviejukebox.properties and change mjb.internet.plugin to be one of these values:
I have 2 moviejukebox.properties files one I created about year ago before I wanted/needed to make another change to the moviejukebox.properties and was then unsure which file to update.
I would rephrase/add the additional sentence:
If you want to use a different plugin other than the default IMDB to gather information in a different language you will need to edit the moviejukebox.properties and change mjb.internet.plugin to be one of the values in the table below:
(Located in your installation root folder, if not please read the following first: moviejukebox.properties {as a hyperlink to the PropertiesConfiguration page})

I have reworded it slightly
Quote:The next step is to delete the lib and properties folders to ensure a clean upgrade and then simply extract all the files from the latest zip file overwriting any files in your MovieJukebox directory.
The reason the lib folder is deleted is because there may be changes to the filenames of the jar files that mean they won't be overwritten when you unpack the zip and therefore create issues with the installation.

Everything else (skins, etc) can be overwritten safely.
