Unable to connect to internal 3Tb HDD via USB
Seems to me this is a bug as it looks like no one has got this to work. See this thread.
If you try to access an internal 3Tb HDD via USB, Windows 7 does not recognise the drive. If I remove it from the A300 and connect it direct to the computer via USB, it works fine. The A300 is supposed to support 3Tb and more and is supposed to be able to upload from a computer via USB. But so far I have not heard of anyone able to do so. Am I wrong? I have the December 6 firmware. |

RE: Unable to connect to internal 3Tb HDD via USB
I have now put a 3Tb HDD inside my A210 as well. That one can be seen in Windows 7 when connected via USB but the one inside my A300 (incidentally, the identical drive) cannot. As I am not alone with this issue, are we going to get any support on it?

RE: Unable to connect to internal 3Tb HDD via USB
Heard of Christmas and New Year?
![]() After that Syabas has CES2012 now and Chinese New Year at end of Jan. So patience whilst we await their return into the foray. It's a known issue. So when they are back and when its fixable they will. They are working on providing more than 2Tb HDD support. A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407 |

RE: Unable to connect to internal 3Tb HDD via USB
I am happy to know it is a known issue. I had not previously seen that they had acknowledged that. I don't mind waiting if I know they are working on it. Still, it seems to be another of those issues which works fine on the A210 chip but has stopped working on the A300 chip.
EDIT: Clever forum! It seems to have recognised I am posting this from holiday in Spain and substituted the Spanish flag. |

RE: Unable to connect to internal 3Tb HDD via USB
I've have the exact same problem with a A-300 and 2.5tb caviar green, I can't detect it using the USB slave. The USB slave works fine on my old A-110 with 1tb.
I could really do with an answer otherwise it'll take an age to transfer 930gb of stuff over the network. |

RE: Unable to connect to internal 3Tb HDD via USB
Same here.
From my investigations it seems that A300 does NOT support GPT internal disks. That explains why the same 3TB disk initialized as GPT and formatted NTFS on my PC works fine in my A200 (which supports GPT) but not in A300. Support, please include GPT support for harddisks. 4TB drives have just been released and need them badly... |

RE: Unable to connect to internal 3Tb HDD via USB
even if it works, i found that with a 2T internal harddisk installed, the A-300 gets really hot. I don't think it's a good idea to have a harddisk inside...

No heat problem with mine. Sound like you may not be using a 'green' HDD. What speed is it? It's not advisable or necessary to use anything faster than 5400RPM. |

RE: Unable to connect to internal 3Tb HDD via USB
Correction to my above post. After further testing I reached the conclusion it has to do with the USB3 slave port. The 3TB GPT disk works fine in both A200 and A300 for playing content, however only A200 links it correctly to the PC via USB.
When A300 with the same internal 3TB disk gets connected to the PC using the USB3 slave port, the PC sees the internal disk as not initialized and not formatted !! (and no, is not my PC's USB port, and is not the USB3 cable the problem, as I tried with 3 different cables on 2 different PCs on 5 different ports - both USB2 and USB3) Network file transfer via SMB or FTP works fine with both devices. |

RE: Unable to connect to internal 3Tb HDD via USB
I too would like to see this resolved ASAP. One of the major reasons I upgraded my PCH was for 3TB support however it's not much use being able to playback files off a 3TB HDD if you cannot get them onto the PCH via USB in the first place.
