A-300 can not access windows 7 files
Hello,

I just got my first popcorn hour a-300 and have spent over 2 hours trying to get the a-300 to see my shared files on Windows 7 PRO. I can see my win7 computer in the workgroup, but can not get beyond that.

I have followed the steps here:

http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/i...h_Windows7

Even with the network user/password turned off, the a-300 keeps asking me for the network user/pass.

I can access the files from 2 other laptops, running winxp.

I even tried enabling the user/pass on win7, and when i get the pop-up box on the 2 WinXP laptops i put the user/pass in and bingo no problem,
but then the same user/pass is used in the a-300, and... INVALID LOGIN.

I don't understand why I keep getting the pop up user/pass box on the a-300 even when the user/pass is disabled....

Is anyone else having this issue???
Nevermind, I did not read guide carefully enough, it was the the "windows live sign in" that was the culprit. After uninstall it all works great....

RE: A-300 can not access windows 7 files
That Windows Live software from M$ really messed with CIFS authentication and messed up a lot of network devices.

I use Windows Live software after having to uninstall. I just found that I needed Live Messenger. So I did the registry fix and now the two live happily together on my network:

A400: SSD+SD Card(Apps), HDMI A300: USB(Apps), HDMI C200: USB(Apps), BD SH-B083L(SB01), HDMI
CAT6 Wired Network: TV TX-P42G20, HP ProCurve 1400-8G, Netgear GS-608/605, Synology CS407

Thank you, the registry fix is a better solution ! I realized after uninstalling the "windows sign in assistant", that I need it for some games like Arkham City. Big Grin

Thanks again....

RE: A-300 can not access windows 7 files
Hi, sorry to hijack your thread but I have the same problem and I'm afraid I don't follow the Windows Live comments above. I've gone through all the steps in the wiki link above with the exception of turning of media streaming, as I can't find where to do that. Even after the regedit steps I'm still getting login requests on the NMT.

I am pretty IT literate, but this is turning out to be a bit beyond my understanding, would appreciate the help.

I would recommend uninstalling the "windows live sign in assistant" first just to take that variable out. You can reinstall it later and try the registry fix later.

Also double check that you used the right settings from this guide:

http://www.networkedmediatank.com/wiki/i...h_Windows7

I remember forgetting to select "file sharing for 40-54 bit encryption" my first time, which caused some issues....

Both Win7 professional 32 and 64 bit editions worked like a charm in network configuration with my PCH, no setting modifications at all were needed.
