RE: Raspberry Pi $25 Media Player
surprised you didn't wait for all the dual and quad cores either just starting to ship or about too.

There's something about under $100 for a player that you don't mind getting something that's still in the tinker phase and might never fully work.. fun times Smile

RE: Raspberry Pi $25 Media Player
Although I don't really understand the appeal of the RPi or the closed A10's (especially wifi only flavours) and have avoided them, I've got 4 or 5 $120ish players and boards and I buy them for fun. I am actually really pleased with XBMC on the arm-based Amlogic 8627 (w/Mali 400) running linux, and foresee good things in the next year. Even the Marvell based Cubox is improving with hard float-point etc.

Over the same year the 300 series machines held even less appeal, but can say I look forward to the A400 even though the cpu and ram are just going to be average in 2013, and Syabas' reputation has dimmed in my eyes so I am willing to wait for the user verdict to be in since I expect stellar video as the selling point.

Fun-times indeed.

Martin

I always liked the mali line. I forget the new model but have you heard of anyone thinking of putting out a mali-t### unit? I know there's a few models of them.
