Starting App directly via remote ?possible?

is it possible to start an App like shoutcast or youtube directly via a button pressed on the remote? like a shortcut

use a harmony remote program a button as "Youtube" and the app starts..

Does that exist?

from a generic remote that can only send button presses, no.

Technically it is possible for someone who makes remote for a tablet or phone (or ipod touch) to issue the command to launch an app. I never really followed the ones people have made or the official ones to see if they offer this.

I have heard of some devices that are like ir recievers that relay commands over a network to devices. also never looked into this but for something like a harmony to launch an app it might be possible with those gadgets. (but than again an old ipod touch or used mobile android/iphone that isn't activated) might be cheaper.

problem is u have to have a universal point where to go from...in order to programm automatic push-button-sequenzes.

That was why I wanted to know wether there is a unique single command to be linked with a remotes command?

I believe that would have to be programmed....like you could choose which app is spezial button 1 and which is special button 2

well for me who uses the radio or youtube quite often it would be great to just have these two on two special buttons...anyone done that?
