Arabic Subtitles bug

Hi Willem,

I noticed that there is a new Beta FW being tested, is there any plan to fix the Arabic subtitles in this Beta? I see that there is support for UTF-16, will this solve the problem?

honestly I would not know... I'm not a sub tittle expert and seldom use them, I just understand some people need sub tittles..

I don't have any visibility on the FW development capacity at Syabas today, beta testers have reported on the first release and it's now back to Syabas to submit the fixes..
The economics of that company does not allow for much...... these days. so if you ask 1 or 2 months I would think 1 is to optimistic...

Honestly i don't know what this forum is about but i just registered here cause i came across your question and i think i can help you with the problem of embedded Arabic subs not displaying properly in MKV files.

I encountered this problem a while ago and managed to solve it as follows:
- Extract the Arabic srt file using MKVExtractGUI
- Make sure it is working properly as an external srt, if not get a new proper external srt.
- Add the file again using MKVMerge (uncheck the old file so that it gets removed)
- Before muxing select the new track that you added then go to "format specific options" tab
- at "charset:" choose "MS-Arab"
- start muxing

In a few minutes you will be able to enjoy your movie with perfectly displayed Arabic Subs.
