Well, I don't really know why, but for some reason mpd has now installed for me. Don't think I made any changes, just tried again later. Sorry if your still struggling..

Question now though, can anyone point me in the direction of a Android based client to control it with? Original post says they exist, but don't know where to look..

Same for me, I tried yesterday again for the 40th time or so, and this time it installed MPD. It is now working perfect.

You could use MPDroid or droid MPD client

RE: [Apps] Music Player Daemon (MPD) C300/A300
I also couldn't get MPD to install.
Solved it this way:
telnet into the PCH-C300 and typed "opkg install mpd"
received an error report about MD5 mismatch, with the suggestion to run "opkg update"
I did that, and then the install command again, and this time it worked.
Next thing was, it wouldn't start because libao.so.2 was missing.
Checked, and indeed, libao.so.4 was installed.
Created a symbolic link to solve this one.

Then again it wouldn't start because port :6600 was in use.
Solved that by starting mpd from the telnet with "mpd --kill /path/to/mpd.conf &"

RE: [Apps] Music Player Daemon (MPD) C300/A300
Unfortunately, I am back and have to ask for help again. I previously had MPD working beautifully through my A300, controlled by Android, iOS and Windows clients. I have recently moved house and had to change my router from a cable one (Virgin) to an ADSL one (TalkTalk). Now I get no sound from MPD.

The two routers are virtually identical in terms of brand (D-Link) and firmware, although the new one obviously has additional ADSL settings. The only real difference is my local IP addresses have changed from 192.168.0.xxx to 192.168.1.x

I can still connect with the various clients to MPD and view the music database. I can still queue songs and clear the playlist. When I press play the scroll bar moves as if the song is playing, but I get no sound.

Note that sound from the A300 is otherwise fully functional including the same music when played manually. The music is all store locally on the Popcorn HD.

The only other things I have noticed are that when I press play on a remote client, the song no longer restarts a couple of times as it used to, to allow the popcorn time to actually start outputting, and my A300 no longer appears under network devices on my PC. This may or may not be related. The popcorn does have internet through the same router.

Sorry if that's quite long.. I may be doing something stupid but this issue of no sound does seem to have cropped up for other people before. Just wondering if anyone can help.

Hi there. Just wondering if you got the stop/start scripts to work? I also don't know what to do with them and I think I need to stop MPD to allow the latest firmware update to install. Anyone having this issue?
