recurring Invalid login of A-300 on synology
Hi All,

a week ago I was optimistic and wasn't too happy about the AcRyan and it's slow performance across the network. so decided to buy the one of the best.
Hmm so far, I'm not too happy with the PCH300 either.. gives me even worse nightmares than the ACryan, wasn't expecting that for 2,2 times the price...

the issue: finally I'm able to see the shared folders authorised via my Synology, but I simply can't access them..

finally I established a connection (home plugs didn't work for me..)

RE: recurring Invalid login of A-300 on synology
What changed on the synology the last couple days.. it seems like every day there is 3-4 posts on all different syabas hardware..

I know chris57 went over how to set it up and made a wiki, but a comment from a v8 user in the popbox forum sounds like you also need to mod the synology firewall to open more ports for smb. does this ring a bell for anyone with a synology???

RE: recurring Invalid login of A-300 on synology
I have a ds2411+ running DSM 3.2.1944 accessing my shares via Samba. The only problem I have encountered is the annoying issue having to have the guest account enabled in order to access the shares. I haven't made any changes on the synology firewall; everything is at default.

RE: recurring Invalid login of A-300 on synology
was there some sort of upgrade in the last week where maybe a new unit factory reset gets different startup settings?

There's just way to many posts the last 3-4 days on this.

RE: recurring Invalid login of A-300 on synology
I also enabled the guest account, and gave it access to the same shared folder, but that isn't the solution for me so far..

RE: recurring Invalid login of A-300 on synology
Looks like you have some spaces in your NFS path, that can cause problems with NFS. Hard to tell for definite from pics but looks like HD - Media as opposed to HD-Media or HD- Media.

I have a Synology and have not had to open any ports or anything.

I use static internal ip's and have my users setup as follows:

My files are not at the top level. I have a folder created called multimedia and then within the my Video, Music and Photo folders. I have it as a Read Only share for my user access from the a300. Therefore the NMJ database is written to my internal SDD.

Hope the screenshots help. Not that even if you block Guest from having Write access if the usergroup that Guest belongs to have Write Access then so will Guest even though you specify it not to in individual settings. Group permissions overide individual settings on permissions I found.
I'll have to update the Synology NAS user and group introduction now that we have the 300 series with its ability to have Read Only shares scanned and the output placed on internal storage. That option is not available for the 200 series yet and was not available when I first wrote the article.

Shocked RE: recurring Invalid login of A-300 on synology
Hi All,

sorry for NOT responding that quickly, but I was on holiday.
I can now say it's working!Smile
I'm not sure what fixed the issue, or:
-enabling/tweaking the guest in Synology or adding some ports in the firewall.
TCP: 137-139,143,443,445 UDP: 143,445,892,993,995
all I can say is that I didn't change anything in the A300.

I post some screenshots of synology, could be of help

RE: recurring Invalid login of A-300 on synology
May I ask the reason for the Guest account needing to be setup/activated, when you have already created an A300 account, and I would therefore assume you would use that account (A300) to access the Synology UNC drives.

I don't tend to allow guest accounts of anykind on my Synology boxes and had been considering an A300 to provide media playback in the bedroom.

If there is a requirement for a Guest account, is it something required for NFS and/or Samba or is it a flaw in the code, that's never been fixed?

RE: recurring Invalid login of A-300 on synology
It's a flaw in the firmware that you would hope would be fixed. Last release they thought they had fixed it but it didnt so they are aware and are trying to fix it.

I just limit my Guest account to Read Only like my PCH accounts. Then the jukebox output gets stored on the internal HDD in the player and it does not touch any of my important archive files.

One thing to avoid is if you create your share first and then scan using NMJ make sure you select 'entire folder' or you are then creating an NMJ jukebox for a different share if you start selecting folders and get the error message re access.
