[HDX 1000] disable automatic update checking?
Hi guys,
Ever since the official HDX 1000 website went dead, I keep seeing an error screen when I turn my HDX on (= bring it back from 'standby' using the remote). I strongly suspect that is because the process which automatically checks for firmware updates has failed (being unable to reach a certain URL).
I would assume this issue must have been discussed somewhere on these forums already. However I haven't been able to find relevant topics using this site's Search function yet.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I've been looking around myself in the NMT directory structure, which hasn't been helpful yet :-s Also it doesn't appear to be a 'cron job'.

The 100 series dont check automatically for an update. You have to initiate the request.
Are you sure that you have not added a theme? Look for a USB or HDD with Photo folder and check for _theme_ folder. If there is one delete it and try again.
Then actually tell us or take a screenshot of what you are seeing as 'error message appears' does not really help with diagnosys.

Yep that's nothing to do with a firmware check.
That is telling you that the last place that it played a file from is not available. It also happens sometimes if you update, dont use the internet/network, and have not given the unit an ip. If that's the case entering a made-up one via manual solves it.
If you successfully access say a network share next time and then after a reboot it still does it then look at things like upnp servers etc. Also try unplugging the ethernet cable during boot as i seem to remember something about that helping this.
A factory reset via Maintenance would also maybe remove the share its remembering. Last resort though I suppose.
