PGS subs in MKV working properly?
Hi all A-300 owners,
I own a A-200 which has a bug when displaying PGS subs in MKV files. The timings are not 100% correct. It displays them like 2 seconds too early and they often stay like 4-5 seconds too long on the screen. It's a known bug on the A-200/210. What about the A-300? Do MKV files with PGS subtitles work 100% properly on that device? Thanks for any info, S. PCH A-210 --HDMI--> Onkyo TX-SR507 Receiver --HDMI--> Samsung LE55B650 55" LCD TV |

RE: PGS subs in MKV working properly?
Nooooo! Why??
![]() What is the problem with these PGS subtitles?? They are the standard Blu-ray subtitles and they work perfect when playing a BD-ISO or BD folder structure. Why is it so hard to get them to work in MKV files? ![]() halfelite, can you give a more technical explaination maybe? I was thinking about getting a A-300 model just because of that problem, but now this seems to be pointless. Does anyone know of a media player that has absolutely no problem with PGS subs in MKV files? Thanks for any info! PCH A-210 --HDMI--> Onkyo TX-SR507 Receiver --HDMI--> Samsung LE55B650 55" LCD TV |

RE: PGS subs in MKV working properly?
It's because the playback applications used in the firmware differ between single file and BD folder structures.

OK, I see.
Is this a big deal to fix? Or can we expect a fix in the next firmware version for the A-200 and A-300? PCH A-210 --HDMI--> Onkyo TX-SR507 Receiver --HDMI--> Samsung LE55B650 55" LCD TV |

RE: PGS subs in MKV working properly?
I don't know how easy it is to fix because only Syabas can tell us that.
I first reported the issue in January of 2011. It was confirmed as "replicable" by the developers in October 2011. I've said in other threads that I still keep the PGS subs in my MKVs but I keep an external SRT version as well just to workaround the problem until there's a fix for it in the firmware. RE: PGS subs in MKV working properly?
Hi, I experience similar issues with PGS subtitles. Will try a few titles with external subs instead.

RE: PGS subs in MKV working properly?
Same here! I've got lots of mkv's (with embedded pgs subs) whose subs played nicely synced on my previous Netgear streamer (EVA9150). Now, having switched to the A-300, I would not have expected sth like this to happen. So...Syabas, do something about this, we're paying customers you know!
I tried external srt-files to see if that helps, well it does but only just. Takes a lot of fiddling around with audio and subs to get things synchronised. Not good.

RE: PGS subs in MKV working properly?
Reporting back on this issue, I can tell you that every single BD to MKV rip I watched with PGS subs i my collection so far, are displayed exactly 2 sec. too late against the Audio.

RE: PGS subs in MKV working properly?
Update: changing the time offset in the subs popup menu (press Subtitle on the remote) should give you the opportunity to (more or less) sync the subs-audio. Still, it is sth that Syabas should fix...and soon please.
Another issue (related?) is that I am noticing nearly all videos (esp mkv's) to be out of sync as far as video-audio is concerned! Even when there is multiple audio (e.g. dts and dd), choosing one or the other doesn't really make much of a difference. So, and I apologize if this has been put on the list already, please fix this one too!! Thx Hans ................................................................................................... RE: PGS subs in MKV working properly?
Why waste time posting here on what you already know is a bug. Post in the Bug Section to get Bugs noticed by Syabas they do not read each and every forum post/thread in every section. They will look at the Bug Section plus bug the hell out of support via creating support tickets and emails to Syabas if it really gets frustrating to you. Take it out on them not your fellow owners on our owners forum.
