Problem playing files (need Remux)
hi all,

Recently I am having more and more problems with playing mkv files. I used to have these problems but it was only small percentage of all files. These days I am having more and more problems with new files. The files will start playing (first I see "buffering..." screen from my PCH-A110) and then files starts playing and after few seconds the sound is still going but the screen goes to the home screen of PCH. After that I cannot play any other files unless I switch off the box from the back switch. I can fix that by remuxing these files but I would like to know why it's happening more often these days. I am attaching two mkvinfo files for two movies that don't play without remuxing. Is there anything there I should look for which can tell me that that file definitely won't play and I have to remux it first.
Movie1
movie2

Thanks in advance for any help.

RE: Problem playing files (need Remux)
Just a thought: have you reset your A-110 recently?

Press Power + Eject button

RE: Problem playing files (need Remux)
can that really help in situations like that moer then switching it from the back switch? What about the mediainfo files? Is there anything which tells you that it won't play on 100 series?

Thanks,

Reference frames are perhaps too high. 4 is maximum and 5 is out of specification.

Cheers,

RE: Problem playing files (need Remux)
hmmm, remuxed it and the result file from mediainfo from new file is identical. Still remuxed file works.

Re. Restart... Power button and eject button? From the remote right? It doesn't do anything? Am I doing something wrong?

RE: Problem playing files (need Remux)
Power + Eject *should* reboot your A-110, if not, you can always use the on/off switch.

Be advised you'll lose your bookmarked places stored via the NMT's firmware (i.e., videos you've interrupted will not resume from the last played spot but will start at the beginning.)

jj666's comments are well taken, sometimes it's better to cut your losses and move on…

RE: Problem playing files (need Remux)
It just looks that I will have to remux every single file before I want to watch it. I was just hopping to avoid that and only remux the oncethat have obvious problem (at least for my PCH-A110 of course). Anyway.... I think my 110 is getting old.....

I am really surprised that Power + eject doesn't work... That would be perfect and I wouldn't have to get up and turn the back switch off each time it freezes.

RE: Problem playing files (need Remux)
You can perhaps use my PopCorn MKV ReMuxer utility to do this?

RE: Problem playing files (need Remux)
Hi guys,

Still have that problem... Buffering... logo while loading file and then after few sec. goes back to the main popcorn menu screen! What can I do... Can it be something to do with network being too busy to serve the file over the network?

RE: Problem playing files (need Remux)
Nobody else has that problem? Only me!!! I hate that.... sometimes even remux won't work, I have no idea why. I would just like to determine which files won't play so I can do something about them before I sit comfortably on my couch and then start swearing when it doesn't play.

RE: Problem playing files (need Remux)
I have seen the same issue on my A-110 when I moved my NAS to another location in the house and connected the A-110 and NAS to my network using 500Mbps powerline adapters. In this setup the issue only happened when playing more recently encoded 1080p and 720p MKV files - older MKV files seemed to play fine. When I connected my NAS directly to my A-110 the problem went away.
