Boxset Guidance please

Hi all,

I am looking to organise some of my movies into sets via the Filename method

e.g.

Code:

Alien vs Predator [SET Alien Collection][SET Predator-1].mkv

If I rename my movie.mkv file, does that mean I have to rename all my corresponding .jpg and .fanart.jpg files too?

Yes, you will need to change the poster and fanart filenames unless you have all the movies in individual folders and name the artwork after the folder name

Also, you might be better off using the NFO method, it's cleaner (on the filenames) and allows you to add as many as you like.

If you go down the filename route, it might be worth separating the sets with a space or "."

and

i take it this will mean that when I click on the 'Rambo Collectoin' cover on my movie wall, it will drill down to next view where I have 1 cover on left and then the list of movies contained within collection on the right.

how would i configure YAMJ so that when I click on the 'Rambo Collectoin' cover on my movie wall, the next page will be a page with all covers of the 'Set'

By default, you click on the collection name and it takes you to posters of the movies in the set

So if I had 4 Rambo movies for example: Rambo 1.mkv, Rambo 2.mkv, Rambo 3.mkv, Rambo 4.mkv.

how would my nfo's look for Rambo 1 and for Rambo 2 to get the behaviour of the sets in that YouTube video?

I do it by making a boxset folder of the collection:

Rambo/
-- Rambo.nfo
-- video files/folers for boxset

Rambo.nfo (note it's exactly named for the folder including capital letters)

at one point yamj wasn't good at order sorting but well over a year that hasn't been the case so this works well. Sometimes this method doesn't work well if the movie was already scanned into yamj without the boxset. In that case just delete the xml file for the movie your moving into the boxset.

it's the same thing, just need to name it correctly.. see the wiki for all the naming options for an nfo file.

how many different sets are you making? the omertron example is putting the movie into 3 different sets.

I would like to create as many as are in this YouTube video here at 2mins 9secs

I would like one cover on my Movie Wall, listed as 'Rambo Collection'

When clicking on this, the next page should have all the covers of the 4 movies in the Rambo Collection

The cursor should be around the first movie in the set (I would like to set the order manually in the nfo) and have the corresponding fanart for that first movie. As I click right, it should select the next cover in the set and display the corresponding fanart. And so on for the third and fourth movies in the set/collection

Ok, got it - 1 set=1 line in the nfo..

So i can start with

You can do it two ways.
You can either have 1 nfo file PER movie named the same as the movie with explicit ordering in the nfo file (thats the order="?" part)
Or you can have all your films in a directory and name the NFO file the same as the directory and leave out the "order" part and have YAMJ sort the movies by date of release

I have tried it the way you mention. 1 nfo per movie and named as the same as the movie file name.

In Rambo 1, I added this at the end just before </movie>

However, this does not give me my desired effect. This gives me 1 cover on the left and the list of the 4 Rambos on the right.

I am looking for the 4 covers to appear together at the bottom of the screen and as I flick through them the fanart will change

just had a thought - my <indexMOVIESET> is list.text.summary - changing it now to wall.poster.fanart

I think this will solve my issue
