Car YouTube Installation
Hi Guys,

I have tried to install the YouTube App and I get an error saying not enough space to do the install.

I do have a 4GB Flash disk installed internally. I think the problem is that perhaps they are being pointed to the wrong location for install.

Did anyone experience this error? How do I get the the install location changed?

Regards

Tomas

RE: YouTube Installation
Hi Thomas,

I had the same problem. It turned out that the flash memory of my unit was corrupted. I had another, related, problem: my A200 kept forgetting its setup data such as the language, TV-setup and so on. (after every reset).

When you have these same issues you may have the same problem. I had to bring it in to have it repaired.

I hope for you it is not the same problem.

Thank you. Just to clarify.

Are you referring to the USB Flash Disk or the flash memory installed physically on the media player unit?

My unit is a brand new PCH C-300 so I hope that is not the issue.
How does one specify the location where you want your apps installed on?

RE: YouTube Installation
You dont.

The Youtube and other Apps Market Apps are stored on the players RAM. Not on any USB or HDD.

Try uninstalling Youtuve totally. then try reinstall. Moved to Apps Market Section.

RE: YouTube Installation
I'm sorry, but this can't be true. Since the flash memory is very limited and the RAM content is lost when powering off, they have to be installed on either your harddisk or USB stick (depending on the location of your system folders). When the machine is booted, all Flash-based apps are located in /opt/syb/usr/popApps/.

Apps are stored in the nand /opt/syb/usr is mounted yaffs rw which is used for mounting NAND as a filesystem its mount point is /dev/mtdblock11. So they are stored on the internal memory not your USB or HD. There is 115megs given to /opt/syb/usr most apps being around 1 meg or less. So you can install 100 apps no problem. The nand is 256MB. the firmware itself is is 80megs. That leaves 176megs then take 100 megs for Apps and you still have 50+megs free on the NAND

If you get errors like this more then likely the Internal NAND is hosed and you will need an RMA. All the Fix option does is format that portion of the NAND in hopes of fixing it.

RE: YouTube Installation
I did the firmware upgrade and all worked fine first time.

So lets hope for the best from here.

So what is the point of me having an internal 4GB usb flash disk? Is this only for BD Live? I am not planing to get a BD drive.

if you run a bd rom you need 2gb from the 4gb flash drive. if you dont run NMT apps there is no need for the 4gb usb stick

Hmm ok, wouldn't have thought it's mounted from the flash memory. I just wonder why they don't allow for more than 10 shares to be configured if they got that much space available...
