[MKV] No video but perfect sound

Hi all,
I've downloaded some clips from YouTube all in avi format. I have then joined them to create one larger clip using mkvverge by appending all of the files and then converting them into one big mkv file.
Works fine on my PC, but when I try to play it on my A110 the screen is just black but I can hear the audio.

the thing that stands out the most is

Microsoft MPEG-4 v2 (pre-standard)

Anytime you have pre standard it most likely wont work. and anytime its microsoft and pre standard 90% means it was a locked MS codec only convert the video to h264 or something else.
