Exclamation YAMJ Too Big For My Screen Size?
Hi Guys,

I not that this has been asked here before, but I need some help.

I have a 51" Samsung 1080p 3D PDP and the YAMJ Eversion edition is too big for my screen.

I have checked my PCH C-300 settings and the the size is set to "Actual", yet the YAMJ is bigger than the TV size.

Is there a setting on the YAMJ where one can adjust the screen size?

Any help with this will be much appreciated.

set your samsung to Just Scan mode

OK, on my Samsung PS51D550 51'' Full HD 3D Plasma TV it is called "Screen Fit" (I am assuming).

So I have done this, and it fixed the issue. But being me I cant leave things alone.

So I played a movie (1080p mkv Big Grin) with the "Screen Fit" setting on and than whilst playing it changed it back to 16:9.

I have noticed that the picture on 16:9 is slightly wider? Why is that? Is it being stretched by the PDP beyond the resolution that it has been encoded in?

Therefore sacrificing the quality of the encoding?

Thanks

Well, there goes my theory out the window. I have just put in a BD Disc and still, changing it to "16:9" from "Screen Fit" makes the picture wider.

So now could someone tell me what the correct setting is?

"16:9" or "Screen Fit" or anything else, to make the movie image the correct size and the YAMJ fit the screen!

Thanks

Are you talking about slightly too big and can be corrected by overscan, or 4 times too big?

RE: YAMJ Too Big For My Screen Size?
If you want a direct 1:1 pixel mapping, you want to use the Just Scan setting on your tv and will result in the best quality. Screen Fit, is a zoom mode and I think it tries to reduce the black bars without loosing too much image.

Most people will stretch and alter the image so it fits into the "tv window" even if that distorts it.. overscan is also a broadcast thing which really has no baring in the world today.

Ok, Where would one find the "Just Scan" setting? Any idea based on my TV model?

On your TV "Just Scan" may be called Screen fit.

Dot by Dot, Just Scan, Screen fit, is all the same thing.

hmm a quick google and it seems your model to disable overscan is the screen fit option you selected.

RE: YAMJ Too Big For My Screen Size?
here is your answer why it looks that way

The Screen Fit picture mode applies 1:1 pixel mapping to the image displayed on your TV so that:

Each pixel of the original broadcast image is matched to a pixel on the screen.
The image fits the screen exactly, without overlapping the sides of the screen.

When your TV is set to the16:9 picture mode, it overscans the image by about 3.5%. That is, the picture your TV creates is about 3.5% larger than the screen and overlaps the edges of the screen on all sides.

Note: When you activate Screen Fit the anti burn-in features on your plasma TV are disabled.

Thanks very much.

What is the "Anti Burn-In" and why when using the "Screen Fit" would this function be disabled?

Anti burn in is so you dont retain the image that is on the screen burned into the plasma screen. If you watch a lot of sports channels or video games where there is a ticker or a hud you will start to see that image left in the screen. Anti-burn usually shifts the pixels left or right every so often to change them up. No idea why it dont work in screen fit mode

RE: YAMJ Too Big For My Screen Size?
burn in is a bigger deal on plasma screens. to be honest if you've had the screen for a few months it's probably safe to turn off. Most tvs remember settings for each input so if you have a cable tv or sat box/dvr. Leave it on for the one your ok with the slightly lower quality (tv provider), and setup the pch for the highest quality since your playing back higher quality originals.

Makes sense. I have the PDP since December. Use it with both XBOX 360 and PS3.

Will use Screen Fit for PCH.

RE: YAMJ Too Big For My Screen Size?
I am having the same problem with YAMJ/Eversion.
On the movie cover art wall after you select "Movies", the bottom bar is cut off so you only see the top half of the title, and page number.

I have a Panasonic 720p plasma TV set to "JUST" for the aspect. The other options were: 4:3, 4:3FULL, ZOOM1, ZOOM2, ZOOM3, 16:9

For the C-300, I have selected:
"720p 60Hz" for Video Output,
"Actual Size" for Video Zoom,
"16:10" for TV Type, and
"sRGB (16 - 235)" for Color Space.

I have tried different Video Zoom and TV Type, but there's no difference.

Also, when I press on a movie cover, I get into the synopsis page, and then I press enter again, but it flashes black and does nothing and returns me to the synopsis page again. Any idea what the problem is?

RE: YAMJ Too Big For My Screen Size?
16:10 is not a tv aspect. Generally it's the widescreen computer monitors that are 16:10. would also explain why only the bottom is cut off. try 16:9

open a help with playback thread for your other issue. there can be a lot of back and forth on that one and it'll take this thread off topic really fast.
