FTP server not starting on PCH-A110
Hi All,
I've found exactly the same question here but the thread is old and closed now - http://www.networkedmediatank.com/showth...?tid=26512 It was solved there by replacing HDD which is not really a solution in my case ;-). I tried everything I could (factory restart, firmware is up to date, tried to install NMT apps again but as firmware is up to date it doesn't allow me). I need ftp mainly to use NMT Community Software Installer as I need to add some services I had once but now some how they disappeared (I really don't know why and what happend). Please help.... what do I need to do to make it work like it used to? Thanks, Popcorn Hour A110 and Pioneer: KRP-500A, SC-LX82, BDP-51; Tannoy Revolution Signature: DC6T (Bi-Amp), DC6LRC, DC4; Velodyne CHT-12Q, Xbox Elite. |

I still have the same problem!
Is there any way to copy some files to any folder, before I try the FORMAT of my internal HDD, which is painful??? I mean, can I copy some files to .bin folder for example, in order to make ftp service to run? Thanks |

RE: FTP server not starting on PCH-A110
I went through a situation very similar with my HDX1000 and in the end I found that the startup script ftp had been deleted and its original contents copied to a backup file.
The solution then was simple. I turned off the script "empty" and restored the original file. Just do not ask me why the script has been renamed and another was put in its place. And without access to ftp, telnet seems to me that does not work. So my only solution was to access the HDX via USB Slave. |

RE: FTP server not starting on PCH-A110
I was having the same issue with my HDX1000. I fixed it reflashing the NMT Apps again as dc11ab suggested.
I was using already 00-17-091216-15-HDD-403 so I donwloaded 00-17-091216-15-HDD-403.nmt from http://www.hdx.ro/descarcahdx1000.php, copy to an USB stick, rename to syb8634.nmt, plug to the USB port above the LAN connector, access setup and maintenance -> NMT setup wizard, chose USB update method... Thanks to all! |

RE: FTP server not starting on PCH-A110
After latest Oversight install through CSI my A110 doesnt work anymore.
If disconnected from LAN I can browse and start movies (ftp and myihome server show as starting continualy) but after a while or after I plug LAN it just blocks, and always stays at "Request cannot be processed" and return doesnt get me anywhere. Busy circle is cvontinualy circling. If I press stop on remote, busy circle dissapears. If I press anything else, it happens again. If I press setup, it goes to setup. but in setup I cant NMT apps, HOME because it just hangs on busy icon. I tried going to Maintainance to reimnstall NMT apps as typical, saving media on Hard disk, but it just stopped there circling. My shares folders and A110 are visible on network from win 7 PC and I can access anything from it from windows PC. any help? Please, kids want their cartoons, lol, and I have to study for exams! PS ftp doesnt sdtart after I installed some new CSI apps, and now CSI cant connect to NMT? what do I do? |

RE: FTP server not starting on PCH-A110
I tried reinstalling firmware (2 latest in right order).
I tried disconnecting the HD. I tried reinstalling NMTs when HD is connected (internal drive). It never manages to reinstall the NMT apps, looks like its perpetualy busy. Last thing that came to my mind is that NMT apps are faulty and I could move them to a subfolder on the HD (remove their default location) and then try reinstalling. I dont know jack about linux so dont know should I leave BIN or any other folder on the HD or remove all of them? Help anyone?? I reset to factory services. all services stopped (some were continualy starting, which might have caused the blockage). Then I reset with power+delete (found somewhere that HD might get stuck so needs to be properly unmounted and thats the way to do it). Then I restarted it. All services were still stopped, and after a few minutes there was no blocking ? I went to maintainance, used external USB with NMT apps on it to reinstall, typical, not formating HDD. It restarted on its own after LONG installation. HD isn't visible from ym win 7 PC yet (probably no service for network started yet). all NMT apps are stopped. Starting one by one. Restarted all services working like a charm! Doing CSI again, one app by one. |

RE: FTP server not starting on PCH-A110
Same problem here, I tried everything.
In my case the problems started after an electricity shortage. I have a packed 1TB hard disk so formatting is not an option. My next move will be to remove the HD and connect a borrowed empty one, then do a complete installation from scratch, then move the generated files and folders onto the old HD's root except for Video, Music and Download folders. Let's see what happens. By the way, it would be a good thing to have a backup zip file with that starting structure of files and folders for recovery purposes, even to be downloaded from the forum when needed in situations like this.Regards. RE: FTP server not starting on PCH-A110
Well, after a whole morning trying to solve this, and many many trials
, I got it working without formatting , I'll try to explain what I did.Disclaimer: Do it at your own risk! This may not work for you. What I did does not mean this is the only way to do it, and it does not mean it must be done this way necessarily, OK? I say this before the wise guys say something (once solved) . I did it this way because I was investigating and things came out this way, so far so good, so I will try to write it the simplest way omitting all the trials etc. Do not try this if you don't understand some part of the process (like the linux part). Before I started I checked my versions: Firmware Version : 01-17-110314-15-POP-403 NMT Apps Version : 00-17-091216-15-POP-403 FTP wouldn't start, it was greyed out. Torrents did not start either. The process: 1 - Disconnected the good drive from the PCH (the one I want to keep untouched) 2 - Connected a spare HD 3 - Downloaded firmware version 00-17-091202-15-POP-403 with NMT Apps version 00-17-091014-15-POP-403 with release date 10 December 2009 from here ( as I have an A-110). I used this particular one because is the newest version with the previous package of NMT Apps. 4 - Unzipped the firmware to a pen drive 5 - Downgraded the firmware to the downloaded version from the pen drive, with the clean option, that means the spare HD is formatted. The unit reboots and I go on with the Apps. Once finished I checked that the versions were correct. FTP is running. 6 - Disconnected the spare HD and connected both, good and spare, to a desktop pc using a linux live cd. 7 - Used gparted to note that both drives have the same structure, a 250mb sort of "boot" partition, a 500mb swap partition, and the rest of the disk is partitioned as the storage drive that we normally see. I wrote everything down so I do not confuse drives and partitions. 8 - Went to a terminal and launched nautilus in root mode (#sudo nautilus), so I gain root rights (as some folders are protected), making sure that hidden files are shown. 9 - I deleted everything from the big partition in the good HD except for Video, Image folder, Downloads and Music. (keep the folders where you keep media files, or can do a backup of the transmission's folder to keep the downloads etc, but I did not bothered about transmission). 10 - Deleted everything from the small partition of the good drive except for the .hdinfo file (I presume this is important) 11 - Copied all content from the spare HD's small partition (except for the .hdinfo file) onto the good HD's small partition. Back to our popcorn. 12 - Took the good HD back to the popcorn, checked that versions remained the same (version 00-17-091202-15-POP-403 and Apps version 00-17-091014-15-POP-403). FTP is running! 13 - Downloaded firmware version 01-17-101217-15-POP-403 with NMT Apps version 00-17-091216-15-POP-403 with release date 23 December 2010 to the pen drive (I did not go for the last one because of the warning message to go for this one before). Performed firm and apps upgrade and checked that versions are OK. FTP still running. 14 - Downloaded latest version, dated 5 April 2011, and upgraded firmware using the pen drive (this last one could be done online but it is slower and I did not want to mess with the internet connection either). End of the process, the popcorn is using the latest firmware and Apps, and the FTP and torrent services are up and running. The media folders remain untouched. For those like ktselios who do not have an spare HD, here is the link to a zip file that could take you directly to point 6 (you will have to do a previous downgrade of the firmware only, no Apps but choose "Typical" install if asked!), the zip file contains the files copied to the small partition in your good drive (remember to leave the .hdinfo file). Note that this may work for A-110 series or compatible. Those with other versions should do the whole process, but manage your own versions to do the trick. For those who follow the process, good luck!! Morality is doing what is right, regardless of what you are told. Religion is doing what you are told, regardless of what is right. |
