Best setting if you are experiencing judder
Hey Guys,
I have a Panasonic 50" VT30 with a C-200 connected (hdmi) to it... Im experiencing some judder/ghosting with movies/tv shows i watch so i wonder if it is a setting i can change.... My Panasonic is set on PRO-Mode...with IFC (Intelligent Frame Creation) OFF.... My Popcorn is set to; 1080p 50hz, framerate: ntsc/pal/24p...... Hope to hear from you and maybe find a solution.. Cheers, Mitch. |

RE: Best setting if you are experiencing judder
it all depends on the media framerate. And if it downloads from say certain groups like immerse/asap judder will be there.

RE: Best setting if you are experiencing judder
Plasma or LCD is not the issue. As halfelite says it's a framerate thing.
Judder occurs when you play a movie with a different framerate than the TV is set to, for example playing a 24fps movie on a TV that is set to 50fps. Most european TV's can handle all normal framerates (24, 50, 60 fps), including your Panasonic. The framerate setting you mention (NTSC/PAL/24) is meant to tell the C200 that it should output 24fps if the movie is 24fps or output 50fps if the movie is 50 fps etc. The problem is that the C200 sometimes thinks that your TV cannot handle 24fps, so it ignores the setting and outputs 60fps instead. This leads to judder. I also have a Panasonic, so I know this problem well. It almost never outputs 24fps and defaults to 60fps instead. You can see this if you press the info button while watching a movie. It will then display same data about the output, like the fps of the movie and what fps the output is set to. In my opinion this is a bug, but don't expect it to be fixed. One thing I noticed is that if I have kept the PCH on for a few days, then the framerate sync seems to work better, and most movies will output at the correct fps. There's nothing wrong with your settings, it's just that the C200 doesn't always use them. A workaround is to set the framerate sync to "Off", and to set the video output to match the movie you intend to watch. So if you want to watch a movie with 24fps you set the video mode to 1080p/24, and framerate sync to Off. |

RE: Best setting if you are experiencing judder
I have a similar issue, I have a Panasonic TV but my problem is just the same on my beamer: Epson EH-TW5500.
I can play all 24p material if I set the settings to 1080p50 and framerate sync to NTSC/PAL/24. I cannot remember ever having had a problem. The issue I have is with SOME 50i material. Some movies originating from a PAL DVD do not play well, say about 1 in 3. In this case I have to disable the framerate sync setting. People have explained that this is perfectly normal, but I also find it strange that PCH is unable to determine the right output. A PCH should be able to do what a bluray player can do in my opinion. |

RE: Best setting if you are experiencing judder
as @halfelite has mentioned, the PCH is sensitive to the settings in the source material.
there is a thread I just have responded to where a member complained that his "1080i recorded .ts" would judder and the Data out of Media-Info state that the movie is not flagged properly as "interlaced" but as "progressive". And yes, this wrongly flagged .ts file plays back without judder on a PC - but not on the PCH. So there IS a flaw in the player anyway. TT |

Not so much a flaw but the pc can actually figure out what the true fps on its own it throws out half the media flags set and comes up with its own. were a hardware players listens to the media flags. Different design approach for different machines. |

RE: Best setting if you are experiencing judder
Guys,
Another question which i think i can ask in this thread... If i change my output from; 1080p 60/50hz to 1080p 24hz....is it possible this can cause lipsync issues?? I think i experience less judder with it..but sometimes it feels like the audio isnt in sync.... Would like to hear your opinions..! Mitch. |

I also have an issue sometimes but I cannot figure out what is the actual cause of the problem: PCH, amplifier, display device or a combination. The weakest link can always produce delay. I gave up on trying to solve it as it is probably not fixable. But hey... you are a beta tester of the 200 series... Could you tell us when the Release Candidate of the 200 series will be ready? And when will development be finished? Sorry, could not resist!

It's safe to say the beta testing program has terminated..
PCH-A100/A210/C200/A400 500GB EXT3 HDD<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Onkyo TX-NR1010<-->HDMIv1.3<-->Panasonic TX-P46S10 13 NTFS USB drives on 3 hubs attached to the A300, 3 Seagate blackarmour NAS 3TB The inability to setup and configure the NMT should not be disguised as a defect of the box |
