Samba issues win7

Just got my A-300 today but every time I click Network Browser I get "Unable access to server, please check your server setup." I know the Samba works fine as I was using it on XBMC with my AppleTV. I tried installing NMT on a usb thumb drive. Now under Networked Media it list also "Thesack:pretsam:(unauthorized)" as a option. After clicking that I get a error msg "An error occurred, cannot proceed your request." I've also installed Myihome and I also went into NMT Application and started Samba there. Also have it set to WORKGROUP under NMT Application.

follow this guide. the pch uses an older samba protocol that windows 7 broke a little but so you have to make some tweaks.

I've gotten it to work in a different way but its NOT the way I would like it to work. I also had to create a password for Guest it wouldn't just take a blank password, I am sure I could just use a normal login/pass rather than Guest the way I set it up. I had to manually add my share by IP address and add each drive separately which isn't really what I wanted to do. I also tried what was on the link but didn't have any luck either.

I've gotten it to show up under Network Browser now for samba but when it asks for Login/Pass no matter what I put nothing works Guest/Guest or Guest with no pass.

Use your Windows Login Account details. So use whatever you created in Windows rather than the Guest Account.

When you are browsing you have to let the player have access. So you need to have share permissions sorted and include Everyone in there. That way it includes Guest and allows you access without entering user/password.

The list entry that has (unauthorised) in brackets is NOT SMB shares. That is Windows Media Sharing(WMP) which is nothing to do with SMB sharing.

I have a related question:

I have just installed my new Popcorn A-200. I can see the internal HDD on the network (\\IPADRES\share), but I cannot find the attached USB HDD (NTFS). I have never had these issues with my A-110 connected USB HDD.Does anyone know how to fix this?

hello,

I use windows 7 and Samba, but never had to tweek a thing.
It works very stable and almost never loose connection.
Is your network setup correctly?

Do you also see external USB, or only internal HDD?
